Very disappointing cup exit again. None of the current strikers at the club are good enough and haven’t been for a while now.

I’m not condoning stupid money at going crazy but just a few extra hundreds to attract the striker or winger that we are clearly lacking taking us from a good team to a very good team that can challenge in the league and take us deeper into cup compositions. We attract good crowds and more success should increase attendances. Very disappointing to go out so early again with so much money available to progress a few rounds.

Not so long ago people on here were bitching about the price increases, now its we should push the boat out a bit and spend some cash on a decent striker, err that means price increases or ask the fan base to put more money in unless of course that money tree has now started to flower for these extra hundreds.

Of course we could take the money from Peter to pay Paul and do a bit of money shifting from other budgets or just overspend and and go back on that slippery slope of the past or get a manager to plow his own money in to fill gaps (Then he leaves and a big hole appears in the budget leading to cutting the playing staff and only having 4 subs for a crucial match at this early stage in the season, now i wonder what team that is) however I thought the philosophy of this club is to stay within Budgets to safeguard the long term survival not screw our finances just because we lost a match in the F.A Cup

Raging after that to be honest.

Completely disregard all said above about needing to increase the budget to bring in better players. We've a good squad and more than capable of holding our own at this level, while giving the opportunities to good local players from lower levels who are keen to play for the shirt. I've seen people this week suggesting we should try and sign Aaron OConnor!!! Are you for real?? Have you learned nothing from the recent demise of clubs operating beyond their means?!?!?!

That said, today, we were the better team, they were there for the taking and we've missed out on valuable prize money that would serve to hold the club in better stead going forward. For me, and as much as I love and trust Peaksy, three like for like substitutions when we were chasing a game against a side happy to sit back and defend their only notable shot on target was suicidal.
NGT had a good game, and threatens ok on the wing but offers very little end product, compared to Sam Johnson who creates opportunities. If we don't use Sam we'll lose him and I think we'd regret that.

For me also, Bowen isn't cut out for this level, I thought it last season and I've seen nothing to change my mind this year so far. He's always a million miles away from the target man and creates nothing.

Slowly being won over by Dove, who works hard, bit he had a chance today when, although the play to NGT was clever, I want strikers shooting when they are in front of goal, and going in at the break 1 up would have made for a different game.

Gutted to be out of the cup, as we had every chance of taking ourselves through.

The commitment was certainly there yesterday, with things looking solid at the back and the midfield doing everything asked of them in the middle third - it was nowhere near as bad as the Hayes defeat last season.

Everybody knows where our problem area is - but it's not just the strikers that aren't delivering - we need more of a goal threat from midfield too - both the central midfielders were guilty of poor attempts at goal, and Ben Acquaye was too wide to offer much of a threat either. The "two big men" up front hasn't worked all season, so perhaps it's time to use a nippy number 10 who can create chances for themselves - perhaps giving Ben Acquaye a chance in that role, and using Sam Johnson in the wider role more - he at least does look threatening in forward positions.

Defeat at the first hurdle was always likely to provoke a negative reaction from fans. I'm not sure if the club factors in any money from the FA Cup when the budget is set, but let's hope not, or the same fans that have been hit with price rises here, there and everywhere may be asked to dip in to their pockets again.

On paper the draw couldn't have been much worse and truthfully I didn't expect anything from the game. I couldn't make it yesterday, but it sounds like we played well, which bodes well even if we didn't make it through.

Whilst I agree with you, the problem here is, for whatever reason, he's got four strikers on the books that are all very similar in terms of playing style. Dropping one to accommodate a midfielder as a striker doesn't send out a great message to the other 3, although I think 1 of them is expendable to be honest.

I have not seen too many games this season but from what I have seen and heard this was probably our best performance as regards passing and possession. But as ever goals win matches. At h/t, myself and almost everybody in the ground knew what was going to happen and as the minutes and chances passed by it became even more certain that Enfield would score. Speaking to their announcer after the game he could not understand why the goal scorer had not started the game as he was clearly the best player they have.

We all know the problem and we all know the answer but it is not that easy to get accomplished strikers for the money we have available. Maybe in a month or so someone who is not getting enough game time elsewhere will be looking for a move. Hopefully our season will still be alive by then. On another day we would have scored 3 or 4 , hopefully that "another day" will be next Saturday against Royston.

At least the reception we received was very welcoming and their fans and officials very friendly. I love the Art Deco building. Although I thought the chips were rather pricey at £2.50.

Maybe their club don't throw money around but their fans certainly do. Not only did someone drop £30 from the balcony but I also saw a lady drop a fiver. And yes I did return it to her. Had I known she was related to one of their players I might have thought differently!!!

We are in only our second season at this level, and in the past three seasons have invested considerable sums of money in moving to a new ground, getting that ground up to the required standard for Step 4 football, and then getting it up to Step 3 standard. Now is absolutely not the time to be tearing up our budget to recruit a better calibre of player, who might help take us to the next level.

Nonsense. Good enough for what? Taking us up to Step 2? Probably not, but be realistic. Shanks was excellent last season (20 goals and the Supporters' PotS, remember?), proving himself to be a decent striker at this level. And Dove and McDonald have only been here 5 minutes. I might agree with you about Bowen, but he is only 25% of our current strike force.
