I thought first half from Keeper to their penalty box we were almost perfect, unfortunately as seems to be the norm our final pass/decision making is awful. Yes we were under pressure and the defence played very well but we had great opportunities in very promising positions. Start if the second half we seemed to get a bit lost and were happy for them to come at us and never controlled the ball when we had it like the first half. We eventually fashioned a few chances of our own but yet again decision making let us down. Why Hicks didn’t shoot when in on goal instead of pulling it back I don’t know. Fantastic ground, decent opposition but our attacking threat is very poor, defence excellent.

A sense of slight disappointment considering a couple of glorious opportunities we squandered, Hicks inexplicably passing when he looked clean through, and particularly right at the end when we made a total mess of a 4 on 2, but I would sure as hell have taken a point before kick-off. It’s a good result against what were the league leaders.

Hednesford were an excellent side I thought. Not necessarily defensively but they had a few really tricky midfield players and if it wasn’t for Heath (who played a blinder) they’d have beaten us well. Having said that we did a good job of marshalling the always-angry Wells, who has scored a few against us in the past for Basford.

Today’s result was a good one on paper but that is now 5 without a win in all competitions after we flew out the traps. 5 without a win despite playing well in almost all of them which might be more of a concern than it is a positive. We haven’t struggled too much creating opportunities but we seem unable to take them. I would be tempted to field a strong side on Tuesday night to try and stop this run.

Another game of not many chances created... did their keeper make a save all game?! Super free kick from Ben though!
To me it seems like we only really have a couple of plans, hit it long and high to strikers or hit the wings. We are desperately in need of another sort of striker, not a target man.
Oh well, would have taken a point before the game and definitely would have taken one after 65 minutes!!
