[ Sat 11th Jan ] v Leiston FC, KO 3pm SLPDC AWAY
Re: [ Sat 11th Jan ] v Leiston FC, KO 3pm SLPDC AWAY
Nice local game for myself!
Hoping for a nice away 3 points again, much like last season.
That 4-1 result must have been one of the performances of last season! We were quality from start to finish. Albie Hopkins was unplayable at times and the thrown together centre back pairing of Berry-Hargreaves and Collard were solid and composed throughout.
Leiston have had somewhat of resurgence recently only losing 1 in the last 7, including 2 draws against Nuneaton and Coalville in that time, so this will likely not be as easy as the home 5-1 hammering we gave to them early on in the season.

With a great start to the year we really need to keep winning to start putting pressure on the play off places. We have a couple of games in hand over a couple of teams above us, and now's the time to put a good run together and see where it takes us.

Now that Ryan Hughes has gone back to the Cobblers, let's hope we don't pick up any injuries in our defence, especially with so many games in the next four weeks.

I'd say Patrick Casey's stock has risen to the point where he'd now be trusted to fill any of the positions within the back 4 should the need arise, but you're right, we could do without any injuries.
Leiston re-appointed Manager Glen Driver recently after he'd been at Braintree, which coincides with their upturn in fortunes. They reached the Ryman Premier League play-offs with him in charge a couple of seasons ago, so perhaps he's getting the band back together. They were hopeless at Hayden Road earlier in the season but Saturday will likely be very different i'd have thought.

Certainly have been a few changes, from the team we played on February 19th last season to the one on August 13th this season from a squad of 16 only 7 were the same, forward to their 1-1 draw at Coalville last week and again 6 who were there in August and only 5 from last season. Over the 3 games only Hammond, Lawrence, Hitter & Eagle were involved in all of them. So major changes and lots of new faces since our last meeting. They have Sam Donkin between the sticks formally of Corby, Biggleswade, St Neots and a fair few others.BartonRaz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:07 pmI'd say Patrick Casey's stock has risen to the point where he'd now be trusted to fill any of the positions within the back 4 should the need arise, but you're right, we could do without any injuries.

Quality result, always good to get 3 points on the road and even better with a last minute winner. Not the best performance quality wise but good spirit and character from the lads to get the win, especially the last 10 minutes. Credit to Peaksy, Champs and the rest of the staff also, the tactics and substitutions were spot on and worked perfectly. Enjoy your wins

Another really excellent performance and a match won in the perfect fashion. I thought we were much the better team for 85 minutes, but for a long while it appeared as though 5 minutes of madness before half-time was going to cost us. The substitutions swung it in our favour in the end and I thought we played the conditions so much better than they did.
The entertainment seems to have improved tenfold with the recent additions and the style of play is great to watch. We look really strong at the moment and Kaziboni has really added something. IMO he's taken a bit of the pressure off Ben Acquaye. The young lads again so impressive today, Paddy Casey was superb along with Matt Slinn and Jesse.

Gutted I couldn’t make the journey today! Great to see us battle till the very end again and get another 3 points on the board. And also nice to see Kaziboni on the scoresheet! 3 home games in a row now... 7 points from those and will be in a very promising position

Table looking good for us, with a number of home games coming up there is a real chance for the guys to make a big statement!
I was impressed with the work-rate and sheer determination displayed yesterday, a tremendously tenacious performance! We never accepted we were beaten and kept plugging away until the end.
Bully’s winner when it came brought about scenes like his equaliser at Barwell in the FA Cup - players and fans celebrating together! This is what away days are all about!
