[ Sat 19th Sep ] v Nuneaton Borough, KO 3pm SLPDC AWAY
Re: ALL TICKET! [ Sat 19th Sep ] v Nuneaton Borough, KO 3pm SLPDC AWAY
Would have definitely taken a point before the game so happy with that. Thought we looked good first half, still struggled to create chances but thought Smith looked lively.
Liked the formation, back 3 of collard, jako and bully will be very solid I think. Sending off seemed a bit harsh and the ref/lino seemed to react to Nuneaton’a reactions but was quite far away from behind the goal.
Impressive defensive display at the end, total commitment from all 10 players. Just a shame we left the striker unmarked for the goal...
But all in all great afternoon watching football!!

It felt so good yesterday to watch us play a competitive match for the first time in over six months. I’ve really missed it!
We had some good chances early on with Jack Ashton and Lorrell Smith but they just failed to make a proper connection. Great penalty from Smith who looked calm and assured under pressure. He looks like a very good signing. Disappointed with Ross Oulton getting sent off. Without a huge amount of intent it looked a high and clumsy challenge and our instant reaction was straight red.
When Nuneaton equalised it looked like the floodgates might open but my god we held on heroically. It was wave after wave in and around our box but we put bodies on the line, got countless blocks and tackles in and stayed strong right to the last. A superb battling point against one of the fancied teams.
The atmosphere from the fans especially in the second half was first class. Like a Diamonds away match of yesteryear. We were definitely kicking every ball at the end there! Who knows how long the season will last in the current climate, but if we keep showing the same resilience and determination as we did then we may surprise a few people.

I'd love to know why Oulton's challenge was worthy of a red card, yet the foul on Jesse in the first half wasn't.

The youtube video is open for comments - could ask there... Maybe the Referee, Alan Cox will see it and give a detailed response
