Is it Nathan Tshikuna that diamond Steve refers to? Yes it would add experience but I'm not convinced that it is the right route. I was surprised to see Nabil on the bench yesterday especially with 4 goals to his name. If they did come = and its a big if -does that not support the rumour that Hicksy is now Director of Football due to the lack of contacts within the current management team?
Finally, I agree with Sussex Diamond that the board would not sack Burge and as i have said previously lets look again after 10 league games.

Just watched Andy,s post game report and it was so depressing to watch it, what is wrong with him,it can't just be disappointment at the result. He is the man in charge and he has to lift the players when they are down, but his whole personna is negative and I think that is impacting in the way we play. I hold my hands up in saying earlier in the season we must get behind the team but I don't think Andy is doing the club or the players any good with this hounddog attitude, there is disappointment and there is plain miserable, perhaps if he is the sort of person that I am sure he is its time to admit that the job is to much for him and maybe step down and concentrate on the training side and let someone with a more positive attitude take over.

Even in the fickle world of Football fans that's a pretty rapid transformation from starting this thread 12 days ago - https://afcdiamondsforum.uk/viewtopic.p ... 37#p114637

Agreed, but I am a realistic person and much as I still feel we should get behind our team I cannot understand Andys morose demeanour when he is being interviewed, we don't need that, we need positive thinking and not empty words

I pointed this out to Mr "Smoky" earlier, I didn't get a responseFormic wrote: Tue Aug 30, 2022 11:55 am Even in the fickle world of Football fans that's a pretty rapid transformation from starting this thread 12 days ago - https://afcdiamondsforum.uk/viewtopic.p ... 37#p114637

I agree that I have changed my thinking but I still want us to support our team, all that I am concerned about is that I feel that Andy,s downbeat body language and the way he portrays things is not helping the team.Surely we need to lift the players as .uch as is possible after a defeat and not look all doom and gloom.

Not going to pretend everything is fine and dandy, cause it isn't, but to talk about the manager's position when it's not even September is way too early. I get that people are panicking, but unless things are out of control and we're getting hammered week in week out and Burge has lost the dressing room, then we need to at least give it till October/November time, have we learnt nothing from last season??
Burge has been given a contract, has been backed by the board with equipment and new job titles, has his philosophy and clearly a style of football that as Saturday showed is pretty good to watch, what would be the point in employing him and giving him the opportunity to stamp his philosophy on the club if just to sack him after a few weeks into the new season?
Yes, we need results, yes it gets to a point where 'we were unlucky' just isn't good enough and yes I expect us to be in a relegation scrap all season, but we have shown improvement over the last few weeks, there is spirit and fight in this team and we don't look completely out of our depth in this league despite poor results. Get FBT back, use the player lottery funds to get a striker in and maybe get someone like Ravi in to just add that extra bit of quality and experience and I think we'll be fine. We're still in a transition period after Peaksy leaving and we won't be challenging playoffs again just yet, but I at least hope for something to build upon this season for the future.

Utter waste Cobblers recalling Ngwa and Connor. Ngwa unused sub and Connor not even in squad. At least they can't be blamed for 6-0 thrashing.

Yes attendances will fall if results don’t pick up, but our attendances at Hayden Road have always been poor, we got more at The Dog & Duck.TheIncognitoKid wrote: Mon Aug 29, 2022 7:49 pmLose that one and he is under real pressure. To change him at thus stage may seem crazy, but like some have already pointed out, he's decided to build a side on youngsters and at the moment the table doesn't lie. I think we're in for a season of a relegation dog scrap at best and if the board are happy with that then so be it. But im sure the amount of fans walking through the gates for home games will tell differentdiamondsteve wrote: Mon Aug 29, 2022 6:22 pmThe table doesn’t lie . I think most teams would accept ugly route 1 football to get them points and up the table.rdusher wrote: Mon Aug 29, 2022 5:49 pm This result look much worse on the face of it then the 90 minutes actually represented.
For sure, a devastating result, but over he course of the game we were by far the best footballing side. We kept the ball on the deck, played some great stuff, Jesse was immense I. The middle and Jensen put in a hell of a shift.
The disallowed goal was a sucker punch and the one that counted we took really well. I'll avoid the cliche of "trust the process" but this is the best football I've seen a diamonds team play I'm a long time.
Of course we can't let the results co to use like this and experience is a must, but it's not a goalscorer we need. Today we did more than enough going forward to secure the win, but all three goals were out own fault. We absolutely gave the game away today and that's the real concern. We need to toughen up at the back
Worried about playing step 5 side Enfield , no
way burg can carry on if we don’t beat them
I always hoped that supporters of the old club would follow over to the new club especially when we moved to Rushden, which hasn’t been the case, I guess they’ve found better things to do, armchair supporting most likely!

Totally agree with dowlos post and I am in the same position.. I have said previously that for the first time since reformation, I was in two minds whether to renew my membership or not. Not sure what it is but yes I did in the end, but it wasn’t out of love for my club which it was previously, but now support..
I have found myself going less in the last year and since the pandemic the whole match day experience has just gone backwards.. it’s taken taken up to now to start the coach travel again sort of, so the thought of parting with my money a couple of weeks ago was one I was to think about as apart from the coach then you don’t get much for the cost.. Especially seeing as there was a poll to possibly increasing the entrance fee.. the club simply ain’t going to get any floater fans in in the current state.
I dread to think what the attendances will be like over the winter and early next year with the cost of living going up. I was off yesterday but couldn’t afford petrol money to st Ives with the amount my car has guzzled this week so couldn’t go.
I’m keeping an eye on results but currently the 45 mile round trip just ain’t worth it.. if we were mid table then it wouldn’t be half as bad, however as much as I want burge to succeed, the results are painful, this forum is sometimes depressing (this post probably hasn’t helped haha) and I just can’t seem to get motivated anymore.. it will come back to me but I can’t part my money with being in a relegation scrap.. if I wasn’t away Sunday the I would have went as I love the fa cup, but at the moment can’t help but fear the worst..
