'Cept it wasn't good enough was it? The USA won (as expected) and we've now got to face the Germans who, as always, will find a lucky way to beat us. Even if a miracle does happen and we beat them we've then got to face Argentina or Mexico! On the other hand if we'd won 2-0 we'd be facing Ghana and then Uruguay/South Korea for a place in the semis. The performance was good but we didn't finish them off and that's what will probably see us out of the tournament. :(

The performance was good although there is alot to improve on. Yes we should have scored at least another one but it wasn't to be. Bring on them Germans!!

If England had screwed up in the way that France did, with disputes between the coach and the team then I'd agree with you about re imbersement. But, I think that the England players tried their best, the're just not good enough to do any better. So no.
Germany seemed to be able to pass the ball to each other, counter attack quickly, and set up smart moves for each other. By contrast England looked like Diamonds under Harry Hill.

Actually Phil, I disagree, I think the England "team" looked completely uninterested, and lacked any real effort outside of the 10 minute spell when we scored the two goals. Quite frankly the scenes of Steve Gerrard (of whom I have been a very big fan) looking tired/disappointed at the end, simply made me angry. If they had really cared as much as they seemed to show at the end, then I think we would have given the Germans a bit of a fight. As it was we were made to look like amateurs. If Rushden played like that, I would be hugely embarrassed, but for our national team to play like that is shambolic, in my opinion.
