Yes we were overrun in midfield, but have to disagree that JE knows what he is doing, as he should have changed to 4-4-2 at half time when it was clear we needed another player in midfield.DiamondsFan wrote:I just think we lacked a plan B today. We tried 4-3-3 which is fair enough as we need to attack when we're at home but I feel we were being exploited over and over again in our lightweight midfield but JE didn't change it. I'm not slating JE because he knows what he's doing, but I think sometimes we do need to change to 4-4-2 when 4-3-3 clearly isnt working like today.
Seems crazy to me that having acquired a number of wingers over the summer that JE still goes back to 4-3-3 and narrows the game.
Crawley are a well organised and physical team with some talented players - but player for player we are better than them. Our problem today was that the manager did not respond to the opposition's strengths and tactics or play to our strengths.
The addition of another forward in Sills this week was good news and he did well, but just to throw him in alongside Howe and O'Conner in the hope 3 up front would do the job, seems lazy thinking to me.
The manager lost the game, not the players.
