Renaming a stand after Dale

Post by Rushdenjim »

As mentioned in the jersey thread, renaming a stand will have a lasting impact on the club! A facebook group has been set up in support of this: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rename-a- ... 648?v=info I have E-mailed the club to ask/persuade them to do this, i think if a few more of us E-mail them then they might consider it!

Although a lasting memorial is very fitting if the club was to do this it would end any future possiblities of getting the stand sponsored. Just a thought.

I was going to post that exact point myself.

I think retiring the shirt is a fitting tribute, along with everything else that has been said/will be done in the coming days. Maybe the fact that (as some people have said) retiring the number isn't something very obvious isn't a bad thing.

In the coming weeks/months we'll realise that life goes on, and despite Dale's death, we are still a football club in dire need.

Well then the South Stand could still be used for sponsorship, or even the Airwair, or even the stadium as a whole. I really think this should be done.
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

I support the renaming of the North or South Stand after Dale. We will still have the other stand and the AirWair for sponsorship.

I E-mailed Matt because Ive spoke to him before and tends to get back quickly (Obviously may be a little longer in the current situation) and he deals with Press issues and etc anyway! So yeah Send an E-mail hes way

And although i agree with the money issue, as some have pointed out taking one stand out from sponsorship opportunity isnt going to put the club under!!! Its hasnt been sponsored in any of the last 18 or so years so I doubt it will anytime soon

What about a memorial plaque, or if enough money's raised, a statue. Of course I'd love a stand to be named after him, but as has been mentioned, we do need money.

We've had a stand (airwair) and the stadium on offer for naming rights for years now and never managed to sell that. What makes anyone think we might suddenly sell off all three unnamed stands?

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

One Dale Roberts.
