A-Z of Diamonds

Post by BartonRaz »

Through boredom i've been looking through this. It also details where players went after they played for us, some of more interesting ones i've found:

Petr Mikolanda - Had to retire aged 22 after a kidney condition AND a heart condition were discovered.

David Mehew - Manager of Gloucester City in Blue Square South.

Paul Bastock - Still first choice at St Albans, aged 40.

Trevor Benjamin - Player/Manager for Morpeth Town.

Tony Stokes - Spent last season in the Hungarian Premier League, playing for Ujpest.

Mark Wright - The main character in The Only Way is Essex. But we all knew that ;)

Mikolanda and Stokes interest me!

I remember Mikolanda having a shot away at Cobblers where it came off the underside of the bar and I thought it was in, and I liked Tony Stokes as a player, very busy!

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

One of the most audacious goals I have had the privilege to see at Nene Park.

Leo Roget. The best Defender we've had. I still remember his performance against Stevenage when we lost 3-1. Pure class.

I can't beleive Bastock is only 40. I thought he was older than that, he's been around for ages!

It appears he came out of retirement too this year and plays for FK Viktoria now ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FK_Viktori ... i%C5%BEkov )

Stokes now plays for Concord Rangers
Concord Rangers F.C. is a football club based in Canvey Island in Essex, England. They played in the Isthmian League Division One North in the 2009/10 season but won promotion to the Isthmian Premier League for the first time in their history after beating Enfield Town 3-1 in the Division One Play Off Final on the 1st May 2010.

Paul Bastock played for the Poppies back in the early 90's and was in their team when they lost 3-1 away to Blackburn Rovers, in the FA Cup third round, back in January 1991 shortly before Kenny Daglish took over as manager. The following season Blackburn won the Premiership.
