GAME OFF - R&DFC V BATH CITY
Posted on: Sat 19 Feb 2011
TODAY'S GAME HAS BEEN CALLED OFF DUE TO A WATERLOGGED PITCH
Due to the persistant overnight rain, the Nene Park pitch has become waterlogged in the areas around the goals and corners, which despite the best efforts of our grounds staff, has led to standing water.
Local referee Andy Tonks carried out a pitch inspection at 11:00am and declared the game off.
A new date & time will be rearranged in due course.

Re: Match Off: Waterlogged pitch
Rain forecast to continue in the area until late afternoon so no surprise.Diamondsforever wrote:I'm not surprised really, it's been pouring all night and all morning in rainy Rushden :(

We've had persistent, heavy rain here for around 12 hours now and there's standing water on the pitch; as I said before, it's no surprise to me at all. Remember that it's not the Club's decision, they're probably just as disappointed as we are.
Just out of interest, when was the last time a game was postponed due a waterlogged pitch at NP? I can remember lots of frozen pitches but am struggling to recall any waterlogged ones (though my memory isn't all that good anymore ;))

Have to say, its been belting it down here in Brixworth since about 10pm last night and we have about an inch of water in the back garden now - bloody weather!

Rather wierdly it's not raining here in Earls Barton. I wasn't here overnight but since i've been back it's not rained.
Until a year or two back I couldn't remember a postponement of any kind.

This is the first postponement for a waterlogged pitch I believe. We had the car park flooded back in April 1998, but the pitch was ok then. It makes you wonder how much the building work on the north side of the ground has affected the drainage!Diamondsforever wrote:Just out of interest, when was the last time a game was postponed due a waterlogged pitch at NP?
