Good article on the back page advertising the clubs new owners and intentions. All sounds genuinely fantastic. If anyone wants me to type out what it says I will.

Rushden & Diamonds Football Club
has new owners who are keen to
bring the club into the community
and be part of local events and
activities.

The new board of directors has been
busy discussing Football in the
Community and how it can support
local schools and projects. The club is
already talking to junior schools about
team players joining in educational
activities and fun sporting events from
reading clubs to coaching days. Local
pupils and their families will also be
offered special ticket prices to
encourage interest in sport and the
club.

One way that children can get on
the pitch without having any football
skills is to join the team mascot on
match day. So if you have a child or
grandchild who would love to lead
the team out with the official mascot,
get in touch.

On Wednesday, 16 February, the
club will be hosting a sponsors
evening to introduce the club’s new
commercial brochure and activities to
existing and new sponsors. During
the evening, the board of directors
will be available to discuss any
commercial issues.

The first non-football sporting event
at the club will be a boxing evening on
Monday 21 February, hosted in conjunction
with Wellingborough Boxing Club.
The evening starts at 7.30pm with a 3
course meal followed by 12 bouts of
boxing, a raffle and an auction. A
table of 10 guests costs £450 plus VAT
and a few tables are still available.

For more information on Rushden &
Diamonds Football Club, Football in
the Community and any of the events
planned, contact Ken Wilde at ken@
rd-fc.co.uk or on 01933 650345.

I have to say that the approach by the new owners has been very positive so far. For years and years it's all felt very negative (we can't afford this, we have to shut the Airwair, we can't do that) and that's had a similar negative effect on attendances. It's about time we had people come in who said, look at what's here and what you CAN do if you get involved. Ok it's not perfect, but it's a start.
The club seriously needs to reconsider the parking charge at NP on match days, and it NEEDS to do a grand re-opening of the Season's Bistro for a mother's day meal, and get it busy by marketing it. For a start there are 570 Trust members and we had TWO couples book for Valentine's night - that's a disgrace. Why hadn't the locally based players booked into the place? I ended up going to Ristorante Venezia in Rushden and it was packed. Perhaps Caesar (who owns the restaurant) should take it over and re-name it Caesar's Bistro?

That's a bit out of date to bother. The Boxing Evening has been and gone and I understand it was a sellout.

it has been in the et.this is a FREE paper.there are probably more people READ it than READ THE ET.so the actual question is what do you do to get the message across.i don't have the answer.it seems to me that people want someone to knock on your door and say hey we are rushden and diamonds come and see what we have to offer.i can remember when the night club opened.packed for the first couple of weeks then dead.then speaking to people after a couple of months they were saying didn't know there was a night club down there.that club spent a fortune on advertising.the only way you will get people (notice i didn't say fans because fans go there anyway)is if you perform on the pitch and you get results and mentions on anglia tv.or national tv.(at the moment craply for example)they will still be mentioned till the final because of the man ure fixture.
