There is no way we should panic and look at anything at Nene park.Trek wrote:I can appreciate people's feelings on this one. This is the biggest challenge that faces AFC in the future.Sara Pascoe wrote:I just want to add my voice to the "Not Pitch 2" opinion. I don't want to enter that site ever again, it's completely tarnished and it would kill AFC for me.

Re: Desperate measures.....
As I've said on this board a few times before, the only way AFC R&D will be become a success and move on within the levels of Non-League football is to find a very friendly farmer/landowner in the Rushden/Higham/Irthlingborough area who would be willing to let (peppercorn rent, very long lease)/give 8 or so acres to develop your own ground.
Own Ground = Own destiny
Renting from someone else always leads to problems and is inflexible with regard to developing your future.
If the existing committee spend there efforts searching for anything else, then IMHO you are wasting your time.

Allegedly Raunds have made the decision not to allow you to stay there next season so if you want to compete in the UCL Div 1 there arent many options locally that will meet the grade apart from Thrapston and Rushden & Higham
If they dont pull off, it may be either have have pitch 2 or have nowhere. Then what would people choose.
Stay alive and line the pockets of those you feel ended your club or fold??
Nice trolling 8-)

Spot on, but I'm getting concerned about the amount of "Your and They's' being thrown around 8-)bedforddiamond wrote:As I've said on this board a few times before, the only way AFC R&D will be become a success and move on within the levels of Non-League football is to find a very friendly farmer/landowner in the Rushden/Higham/Irthlingborough area who would be willing to let (peppercorn rent, very long lease)/give 8 or so acres to develop your own ground.

Re: Desperate measures.....
I don't think this takeover will see KTFC go under as the only asset they have is their league place and there's no point in investing just to throw that away. I believe we'll see exactly what we saw with the RDFC takeover and that is investment in players to try to push for promotion and build support. After three or four years the whole thing will either succeed or fail - just like the last one.

Re: Desperate measures.....
Well, and its purely a personal perspective here, I will nail my flag firmly to the mast - I will not support any move that involves putting money into the pockets of the people I feel responsible for the demise of our club, I would rather walk away now than compromise my principles and do that. That includes buying land from the current owner or renting from them - I'd want nothing to do with that.
I must say, I too don't like the way people have started to talk about the Committee as a "they", we are all fans and members and in this together, thats what One Fan, One Vote, One Community, One Club means !! That is our strength !!
Time will tell what options we have for next season re: where to play, I don't know and I doubt others on here who claim to know do either. The Committee, who have done pretty bloody well so far, will present their options to the fans/members and then members will have the chance to vote - I will put my faith in the people who have got us this far, and done a terrific job in the process. I'll wait and see what options are placed before us. Talk of Pitch 2 at NP is just that as far as I'm aware, talk - and most of that generated from Ploppynet. Roll on the 17th Jan when we get some firm proposals rather than lots of speculation I say !
