Reading Poppynet is depressing, they're so defeatist! "It's the hope that kills you" would never apply to them because they don't seem to be hoping at all.

Yeah perhaps not surprising, I see the phoenix club idea is popping up all the time but there's still no proper commitment to it and the reaction does seem to be a bit mixed as well. I know they should wait for this club to go first but I'm just surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for what seems to be the only option for them right now and surely they've seen the excitement and optimism we have for our phoenix club right now.Sara Pascoe wrote:Reading Poppynet is depressing, they're so defeatist! You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

Re: Desperate measures.....
So, my 54 year link with the Cobblers has come to an end. After yesterday's debacle, I know I've made the right decision.
There are kids, some with special needs, who idolise the shower of ****e that represented the club yesterday, there are adults who have faithfully stuck with the team longing for an end to this rot that has set in,there is a Chairman, who, although has been naive in the extreme, has ultimately been let down so badly by this bunch of pussies and there is a manager, who is as professional as they come, but hasn't got an idea how to wake these players up from their slumber.
I sincerely hope that in the future, when their privileged football career is over, those players have to earn their living spending 40 plus hours a week doing the most mind numbing job for minimum wage.To my mind, they are the lowest form of life, akin to the many benefit scroungers who have brought this country down to it's knees. They simply cannot justify what they take out, because they have put so little in!
I'm now very comfortable in life, thanks to long working weeks and some prudent investment. However, I refuse to waste another single penny subsidising this week minded bunch of tossers. The players though will not be perturbed by my words. At the end of the season, the loan players will saunter baack to their parent clubs, and the rest of the rabble will tell us how sad they are that the club has been relegated, and that they'll do everything they can to make things right again. It appears that empty promises are in abundance at the club!
As I lay my claret and white scarf down for the last time, I'm going to reflect on the good times and the great people that have been part of my 54 year affiliation with the club. The stalwarts on and off the field who gave their all for little reward. Thank you for some great times Cobblers, but, as I reach the twlight of my life, I just know the time is right to call it a day.
King Ted signing off for the last time.
God bless you all !

Been meaning to do it for weeks (since I got it) but just not had the spare time - next weekend is looking good for this at the moment. Once I've sorted it out I'll ask again if there is anything else available.
I'll help, as long as you provide the Port ;)
