Histon
Since our game on Wednesday, Histon have dropped a number of other first teamers from their squad as they couldn't agree contract terms - Danny Wright, Lanre Oyebanjo, Nathaniel Knight-Percival, Matt Langston and Joe Welch, joining Danny Naisbitt who was dropped for similar reasons for our game.
One assumes Histon will be looking to loan some or all of these player out (I'm assuming they are part-time players). It would be quite ironic given the reception given to Matt Langston if he was brought in as defensive cover - perhaps similar to the Warren Patmore signing.
Although we haven't seen him this season, Oyebanjo seems to be highly rated.

Re: Histon
They're going to be in the shit then.
Oyebanjo and Wright were on trial at Peterborough with Josh Simpson, but they took Simpson.
What was the reception for Langston? I was at the game but don't remember hearing anything...

Langston got a bit of abuse from (parts of) the away support, not sure why... it was quite funny, though 8-)BartonRaz wrote:They're going to be in the shit then.

Re: Histon
I thought Bradley Hudson-Odoi looked fairly useful, if a bit of an unfinished product at the moment (not strong enough on the ball). I think we should be interested in him and Knight-Percival. Oyebanjo would be of no particular help this season unless a defender gets injured.
I would imagine that there will be a massive scrum for these players and we won't be able match the wages offered for any of them though so it's probably not even worth discussing.

Re: Histon
The keeper (Naisbitt) is not bad. Don't think he's any better than Abbey or Roberts for that matter tho!

Re: Histon
I'd perhaps take Danny Wright. But he si the only one that would fit into our current system. Knight-Percival is a good player but he is a winger so would only be sat on the bench like Patto. Oyebanjo is no better than Osano or Corcs currently but has the potential to be better.

Re: Histon
Wright is a grafter and causes defences problems, but is a donkey in front of goal. I wouldn't take him ahead of any of our strikers. Oyebanjo is decent, but I'd rather have the Kenyan King. He's probably a better player than Corky, but I doubt he offers the same versatility. Bradley Hudson-Odoi did look useful but had no end product.BartonRaz wrote:I'd perhaps take Danny Wright. Re: Histon
This may not be the best news for us as they still have to play Mansfield, K*ttering, Wimbledon, Luton and Stevenage.

Re: Histon
From today's Cambridge Evening News:-
'This was not so much the day when the Histon dream died, as when it was finally exposed as a fantasy. How could Football League status have been thought a possibility when even part-time players were getting close to a reputed £1,000 a week while the hardcore support was never much more than the 600 or so who turned up for this game?
Now, the manager admits, it is a battle for survival. There is a nine-point cushion between them and the drop zone, but after four matches without a goal, and only one win in nine, the next victory could be as difficult to get as the signature of any of their star players on a new contract.'
