How big?

Post by ChorltonV »

Just how big is Tuesday nights game now? Personally i think it's a game where a draw will probably be enough, but I'd hate to think the players would adopt that attitude. It's definitely winner takes all though, a win for either side I think will ultimately be enough for either team to seal promotion.

Basically a win would mean we could afford to draw one of the final three to gain promotion but probably not the title. Hats of the players again today, that's 18 unbeaten 16 of which are victorys.
We really couldn't have asked for more and unfortunate not to have won the games they drew!

I can't decide if I'd rather win promotion at home or away? It would be nice to know it's confirmed as early as possible TBH, but if we were to draw it would mean getting a biiiiig gate for the Whitworth game.

Never has the term it's a '6 pointer' meant more. A win for us and that's effectively Eynesbury's promotion challenge over. However, we must not lose and in the end of the day a point could well be enough.
What we must not do, however, is to start the game with 'a draw is good enough mentality'.
I shall be expecting us to be playing on the front foot from the start with a good tempo because that's when we play our best stuff. I also expect Eynesbury to approach the game in a proactive manner and that will help our front two to exploit openings in their defence.

they have to win really, it's a simple as that if they don't they rely on us slipping up, but we owe them one for the result at their place so it's going to be fascinating.
If they win they have a +9 goal difference so we would rely on them slipping up.
We need to win to keep the pressure on the others all round

The only thing that worry's me is that we've not been at our best at home on a weeknight. Against Raunds and Buckingham the damage was done by half-time, but we've had a few narrow 1-0's against mid and bottom table teams. But at the end of the day i'd take a 1-0 win but I can't see Eynesbury not scoring, we just have to make sure we out score them!

Only unbeaten team in the league at home, so I expect our boys will go into the match with bags of confidence.

I think without bias that we will easily win this by two or three goals, that is obviously depending on the back four we can put out. We had a bloody nightmare at their place but since then we have formed a squad that plays for each other with all players fighting to start every game. Just my thoughts

Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

Just watched the highlights of the 4-1 again and their 1st two goals seem quite fortunate, Newman missed a hatful of chances including one golden one at 2-1. Then there was that awful miscommunication between Sam and Quincy and I don't think that's something that will happen with Cross.

2-0 Diamonds! :D
