Btw, I spent quite a lot of the second half wondering if their keeper's ever been smashed in the face by a shot. Wearing specs like that seems a bit dangerous for a few reasons.
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

Yeah I was wondering that. In the warm up the ball took a bad bounce and went into his face knocking the specs off. If it happened during play would he be more interested in keeping the ball out or saving his glasses from being trodden on :lol:Bob's Bitch wrote:Btw, I spent quite a lot of the second half wondering if their keeper's ever been smashed in the face by a shot. The lads that ran on had been boozing all day (st george's day) and went to the game aiming to cause trouble. Plastic bottles and loo roll were thrown at the lino during the game and i'm sure we will heard from the league about this.

I don't think that their main aim was to go and cause trouble! They just got a bit excited in the heat of the moment, were a bit fuled up and did something silly!Rushdenjim wrote:The lads that ran on had been boozing all day (st george's day) and went to the game aiming to cause trouble. Yes, everybody has done something stupid in the heat of the moment. Just out of curiosity how will their supposed bans be implemented?

Are they going to banned? Very silly thing to have done, particularly in a high profile game at this level and as has already been pointed out giving unnecessary problems for our 'volunteer' stewards.

I had a very clear view of the last minute penalty award. There was a slight nudge by Ben Morgan, the sort of thing that goes unpunished a dozen times in every game, and Bassett went down as though he was hit by a train. Unlike some others I was not impressed by Bassett last night - he spent most of the night fouling our players(mostly unpunished) or falling over under the slightest challenge. I thought he was much better in the game at Eynesbury.
The added time at the end could easily be explained by the number of substitutions, a long delay at our penalty, the injury to their player near the end and a fair amount of time wasting by Eynesbury up to our equaliser.
The pitch didn't help our normal passing game but for the first 3/4 of the match we resorted too readily to hitting long, hopeful balls forward, which were meat and drink to their no. 4 Reynolds. Once we started to get the ball down we looked the far better side. We need to play to our strengths and not get dragged into playing how the opposition want us to.
Both our goals were excellent, especially Sam's solo effort, but you have to applaud James Freshwater's dead ball kicking.

And besides that tank who threw something on the pitch in the 1st half was aiming to cause more trouble that them lads celebrating, and he wasn't removed! Just my view though ;)rushdenshireelite wrote:I don't think that their main aim was to go and cause trouble! Still coming to terms with what last night means in the bigger picture. On the one hand, we were about 10 mins from another season in UCL1 but now we need 'just' 7 points to get the job done.
On the other hand, again we've been cheated at the end by a ref who was thrilled to have his moment in the spotlight.
I still feel pleased all in all, but the nerves are still there that were so nearly eliminated. Potton and Spencer will be tough games, last night will look a lot better if we can finish the season on a high.
