Desperate measures.....
Re: Desperate measures.....
I heard a rumour and not sure if this is true, but the airwair stand is up for sale to another football club, possibly Peterborough United. They may need the electricity back on the power the tools to take the big mecano set apart again.

cant see it happening, just think of the cost to dismantel it,transport and re-erect it and you would have to demolish the back of the stand to get the steel outMEMAN53 wrote:I heard a rumour and not sure if this is true, but the airwair stand is up for sale to another football club, possibly Peterborough United. I don't see that really. They have planning permission on the Moy's end for a particular design for which construction will start very soon. The club had stated that they would look into redoing the London Road end IF they stayed up this season and would not actively look at it if they went down. Turns out they are going down and it's taking then 3 years to get to a point of starting work on Moy's end so can't see it myselfMEMAN53 wrote:I heard a rumour and not sure if this is true, but the airwair stand is up for sale to another football club, possibly Peterborough United. Re: Desperate measures.....
You can't take a piece of steelwork specifically designed, such as the Air Wair stand, and expect to be able to gain planning permission and then physically be able to adapt it for another football ground without extreme difficulty. I've been involved with the demolition and re-erection of a fairly simple portal framed industrial building and it's a real PITA.
Can't see it happening.

It always amazed me how Northwich Victoria managed to move their Dane Bank Terrace from the Drill Field to the Victoria Stadium - although obviously they were building a new ground in an industrial wasteland, so the planning side of things would have been far less of an issue.

I think it's fair to say that many old grandstands were moved from old sporting grounds 60 to 100 years ago and rerected in new locations but this was before the introduction of town and country planning legislation which came about in 1948 and, of course, labour costs were not particularly an issue in those days.

Interesting development
"Corby Town Supporters Trust · 204 like thisFriday at 8:38am · ..Corby Town Football Club have advised the Corby Town Supporters Trust that it is currently unlikely K*ttering Town FC will play any home matches at Steel Park next season."
I thought they had to comply with ground grading by the end of March in order to be accepted into the SL Central for this season? Looks like the agreement with corby was enough to get around the rules.

Their sugar-daddy seems to be paying for upgrades at Latimer Park (as well as a new squad). It will be interesting to see if they meet the grading requirements for Step 4 in time (and have the potential to meet the requirements for Step 3 if they are having a tilt at promotion) - they would need a stadium with the capacity to hold 3000 if that was the aim. That would be quite a step for a stadium in Burton Latimer - I wonder if the local residents are aware of that, or the impact of a 250 seater stand or the new perimeter fencing that would be needed on the far side.Three of Diamonds wrote:Interesting development

It also looks like their new sugar-daddy is paying off Ladak and the various creditors, including those who had bills from their Nene Park era(including rates that have been due whilst Nene Park was empty)
