This game is made for Kingy in my opinion.

I realy don't think we have carried him for 80% of any game.Bob's Bitch wrote:Can we afford to be carrying King for 80% of the game just in the hope that he'll do something magical in the other 20%? We might already be out of the game at that point.

I can't believe anyone suggesting Kingy shouldn't start.
The one player from midfield who plays on the edge and will score when you need it as evidenced by his two goals in the last couple of matches. He's the type of player that will hurt higher opposition such as we're facing tomorrow.

Starmer will need to take the right approach to a very different game to what we have been used to. Faced with his, ''we need everyone to commit to training, or they can leave'' statement, it was noted King didn't go to training on Tuesday and 8 or 9 of them didn't go on Thursday, and it's the same ones that haven't turned up before, but, go straight into the starting line up.. An interesting scenario for the manager.Pete wrote:Really big call for Starmer tomorrow with the midfield. While it has been settled and has been getting results I think the starting four were relatively weak in both the Cambridge and Harborough games, compared to how they played when changes were made later on. I'd love to see Sean back in the side, and in his interview last Sat the manager agreed he inserted more energy into the side than Harris and King did in the first half. I also think Wizz or Gearing would be significantly stronger in all areas frankly than Liburd on the right. I'm hoping Starms is brave, changes his winning team, and brings one of those back in, probably Wizz.
I am worried about the opposition having better fitness levels, but, and a big but, we could just cause a bit of an upset on the day.

I'd like to point out that I wasn't suggesting King should be dropped. ;)

Agreed, perhaps he hasn't consistently shown this season what he's capable of, but whenever he does get the ball, you can see the quality he has and I thought maybe the Oadby goal was one of those one in a million shots, but he's shown now that perhaps it wasn't and he can come up with a big goal like that when its needed and its certainly fair to say both his big goals were 2 of the most important goals scored for the club to date.Trek wrote:I can't believe anyone suggesting Kingy shouldn't start. The one player from midfield who plays on the edge and will score when you need it as evidenced by his two goals in the last couple of matches. For me its another unknown tomorrow like Cambridge City, away upsets do happen of course in the FA Cup, but usually I've noticed when the team a few divisions higher is at home, its a comfortable home win, but it all depends on what happens on the day, you can't really predict what'll happen, I mean one year we were hammered 5-1, another we nearly nicked a replay from a team 2 divisions higher.
And on training, I assume its cause they have other work commitments, rather than they couldn't be bothered? Got to remember at this level, players' actual jobs probably do have to take priority.

I expect to see changes tomorrow, I have never believed in keeping a winning team because every game is completely different depending on opposition.
I think our plan is we have to stay in the game, if they score first we have to stick to the plan and believe in our strikers to take their chances when its come. They will be a lot fitter than us and its the movement off the ball you will notice when playing teams from a higher level.
I think we have to start with McBride, I will keep Nat in and have wiz on the left for his work rate, then with 20 mins left bring matt Gearing or Koriya on to push forward if we need a goal
Just got to believe I'm going for 1.1 and replay Tuesday night COYD

Lots of reasons to play Kingy but for his goalsTrek wrote:I can't believe anyone suggesting Kingy shouldn't start. The one player from midfield who plays on the edge and will score when you need it as evidenced by his two goals in the last couple of matches. Sean v Brad is I think the only call Starms has to make. Like Starms said in interview Sean brings energy but sometimes IMO it's a bit misguided & required only because he may have to recover a lost ball or bad 1st touch, though if he doesn't start a hell of a player to have on the bench. Brad on the other hand doesn't do lots of chasing around or much that fancy, but the job he does is very effective & done very well.
The wide roll, not sure but having watched both the Huntingdon & Wellingborough Cup games recently when those not playing could have impressed but didn't. I'll go same side as last Sat with a very strong bench of. New Keeper, Deaks, Wizza, Gearing or Dent, Gilly, Lance & Sean.
