Wellingborough Town

Post by James Beil »

“It is with sadness that Wellingborough Town report that our kit man, Sam, collapsed and passed away last night.

Sam has always been a friendly face at the club and has spent many hours volunteering for the club.

We pass on our condolences to Sam's family and friends

There will be one minutes silence tomorrow at the AFC Kempston game in order to remember Sam.”

Any chance we could arrange something to commemorate Sam at the ground he worked at? A similar minutes' silence seems appropriate, or a donation to his widow or the club?

Very sad news, anyone who met Sam will know he was a football man through and through, a friendly chap who will be a massive loss to The Doughboys and more importantly his family, who my thoughts are with :(

Everything put in prospective, we have a laugh & joke even take the p..s, but like Sam we all love footy & sadly unlike us he won't get to enjoy any this weekend or again, well only from a higher vantage point. RIP & hopefully we are all given the opportunity to show our respects tomorrow.

I got to know Sam quite well, with my regular visits to the D&D in the daytime.
He will be sadly missed, as others have said a true football man
