Give fans their money back? No, no no no. They knew the risks. They knew deep down we aren't as good as the Germanys/Argentina/Brazils etc. They chose to travel and the risk hasn't paid off.
Maybe next time :]
Too true, money makes the world go round, spend it at your peril.
Fair play to the Germans they deserve it, we'll go again next time and crash out in a fixture we all think we'll win!
The only people I think that maybe deserve it are the ones that went there to get married and for their honeymoons. Supposedly the best moments in their lives, ruined by inept, overpaid, pre-madonnas. The "team" should pay for the weddings, the trips, and the almost inevitable divorces ;)
Theres no need to give the fans their money back, they didn't have to go to South Africa did they? Besides, they've got a nice little holiday out of it if nothing else.
Re: the squad etc, i don't necessarily think we have a problem as such (apart from the FA in general but thats another point alltogether), the team just wasn't there to start with. On their day we have some stand out players, Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, but they are playing alongside bang average players like Glen Johnson and Matthew Upson. If Wayne Rooney was never born, we would have finished 3rd or 4th in our qualifying group, simple as that.
Time for a clear out. Heskey and James need to go because of age. Gerrard and Lampard are of similar age to Heskey but have the ability to be in the team in 2012. Upson, Green and Wright-Phillips need to go because they are plainly not good enough. King shouldn't be picked because he is unreliable.
We need to blood youngsters like Joe Hart, Adam Johnson and show some faith in Theo Walcott. I'd even call Connor Wickham up personally to give him experience because he'll be up front with Rooney in 2014.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....
