And yet we're a point better off and we didn't finish the game with 10 men.

Personally, regardless of the performance, I don't care too much in terms of the overall picture when it comes to starts of the season. I feel that Fleetwood will be up there come the end of the season and will give sides a run for their money.

I'm not going to let that Corcoran goal gloss over what was an absolutely horrible display.

I would say the ref ruined the game, but the players did a good enough job of that themselves.

Fleetwood were pretty poor in terms of ability, but completely bullied us from start to finish. They reminded me of an Evans Crawley team, or the old Histon teams. It doesn't help that some of our new players look like absolute pansies.

The problem is obvious straight away. Firstly, Spence is and absolute waste of space, he didn't complete a pass, didn't make a tackle, didn't take a man on, and can't play in that position. Secondly, Simmonds was just simply dire. Last but by no means least, Rene Howe's body language was an embarrasment.

We looked considerably better when Huke, Charles and Johnson came on, and i'd urge Edinburgh to start at least 2 of them on Tuesday. With Day and O'Connor back in the side i think we'll be alright to be honest.

It is just the first game of the season and we have had a lot of changes. The team needs time to settle together. Some positives - the 2 P's, Porter and Power looked an effective midfield partnership. Miller is a competent RB and he has a long throw and apart from Osano's howler that led to their goal, the defence is a soild unit, (with Robinson to return). And speaking of returns, O'Conner and Sam Smith will give us more options and goals when they return.

One problem I can see is will JE's 4-3-3 system work as well as last year without Tomlin working his magic? I'd rather we went to a traditional 4-4-2 so we can get behind the defences that Tomlin used to unpick through the middle. I know I went on about this last season but we do have wide players and the likes of Farrel and Smith would prosper from crosses from the by-line.

Need to reserve judgement until we have some games under our belt.

I still think we should stick to 4-3-3. I don't think we have lost at home since switching to that formation.

Am i right in thinking we last lost at home against Altrincham? About 9 months ago roughly.

We looked absoultely hopeless today, the ammout of passes that went to nobody was unbeliveable. There was absolutely no creativity today, Power was probaly Rushden's best player and he did not even play well. We were extremley lucky to score, where the 4th official got 4mins of added time from i have no idea, i thought there was going to be 1minute (2 at a push). The sooner O'Conner returns the better, we need sombody who can just produce/create something. We saw glimpses of Howe but not enough. At least things can only get better, they surely can not play any worse.

Nope, we lost to York on 1st December, but still haven't lost since then at home, so your point still stands.

Performance was very poor, obviously I'm delighted with the late goal and I feel Fleetwood hardly deserved 3 points but I thought Fleetwood would get a 2nd goal, we'd have a player sent off late on and it would be deja vu and I was honestly wondering how we'd miss the penalty rather than are we going to score it.

However there's something wrong if people are actually worried after 1 game, just look at last season, awful start and we ended up making the playoffs or an even better example of how little the first day of the season means is Norwich last year, they lost 7-1 at home on the opening day and then went on to win the league

Last season we lost the first game and we were a crock of shite and relegation fodder, how the hell can anyone base the whole season on one game is beyond me.
I paid £17 to watch that shite and therefore have the freedom to have an opinion. If that was my first game I would NOT be returning to watch another in a hurry. We just hoofed the ball forward for their big defenders to head it back to their keeper who just stood around wasting time. Then he would kick it forward they would pass it amongst themselves for a bit, we would hoof it forward and, same old same old. JE stood their shrugging his shoulders apparently not knowing what to do or how to do it. I said it last season JE doesn't have an idea how to change things when we are up against it.

we had quite a few games last season when we were poor first half and he'd turned it around at half time.
we do miss a player that'll take the ball forward, like tommo or byrne, last season.

Be happy with the point. We're lucky to even have that.

Some of the people on here are acting as if we've just lost the play-offs, is it just me or is there another 45 games this season?

We were bound to get a result like this somewhere, might aswell get it out of the way quickly and win the rest of the matches :D
