I remember going to Hitchin when we played them in a pre-season friendly. Tony Pennock was warming up by the goal and little me went over to get his autograph. He told me I was the first Rushden person he had signed an autograph for <3 His daughter is a similar age to me, and I remember going to reserve games with my Gramp, just so I could play with her.
Mick Harford was also at the Hitchin game. I remember Dad telling me to go and get his autograph and I hadn't a clue who he was.

I would hope that we would get placed in the UCL prem and not UCL Div 1. When Kings Lynn reformed they were placed straight in the Prem. I have visions of us winning the title away at Thrapston on the last day of the season, i can picture the mass pitch invision and scenes of sheer jubilation

Plenty of work to be done before that happens though :)

Chester were placed even higher up. Who knows, we might get straight into the Zamaretto Division One Midlands.

Putting a club of our 'predicted' support in the UCL Div 1 would just be nonsensical.

True, although it would be nice to win a couple of promotions :D Im being a bit ahead of myself here but it may be a blessing in disguise that we cant put together a team for this season because if we were put in the UCL prem its likely that Kings Lynn will gain promotion from that division this season. They are a country mile better than any team in that league now that St Noets have been promoted.

As I said in another thread, the thought of Diamonds ever playing Thrapston is absolutely bizarre but it will be great to have an away game literally a 2 minute drive away, the distance to NP for me is about 3 times longer, just hope they can survive their first season in the Prem :D

I don't think there is much chance of us getting in UCL Premier, our situation is very different to that of Kings Lynn, we will have missed a whole season and be in every sense a totaly new club.
They also continued to have the use of a much higher standard ground. I am sure UCL 1 must be our starting point.

I hope you are wrong - but as we are severely handicapped by the ground issue, perhaps our situation is most similar to Scarborough - and their initial Phoenix club Scarborough Athletic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarborough_Athletic_F.C. who had to start in NCEL Division 1 which is a step 6 league at a similar level to the UCL Division 1.
