Got to say I felt the same way, totally depressed about the demise of the old club and the ***** who caused it, haven't been to any of the meetings setting up the new one or any of the friendlies, haven't even been on here much. However, I went to the game yesterday and it was brilliant! The lads were of a higher standard than I expected, scored some excellent goals, and played with a commitment which put some of the R&D sides I have watched to shame. The crowd was great too with many old faces, but none of the moaners, who are no doubt still going to Nene Park to be miserable.
Get down to the next home game if you can, you might just enjoy it.
Right up until the new team took to the pitch last night, it wasn't about the football but, for me, it was about bring a part of something new and exciting and getting ready for next season.
However, I found myself with tears in my eyes and goosebumps of excitement as the team walked out onto the pitch last night. We should all be incredibly proud of what we have achieved in such a small space of time - sure, the football isn't always great but then again it was sometimes like that last season wasn't it? I missed most of the second half sorting things out behind the scenes but I'm not bothered by that - this is our club, we created it, we control it, it is ours and no-one can take it away from us. That feels bloody good and a 3-0 win in our first competitive game is the icing on the cake!
I'm not disputing the fact that I might enjoy it, there is probably NO doubt about that as I have spent my life watching lower league football. I grew up watching teams such as Bedford town, Hitchin town, St Albans, Dunstable and the like, but until I moved to Rushden in 98 I never really had a team to follow. I gaave my all to a club to have it all ripped away from me and I really can't get any excitement over the all new Diamonds. In all honesty I'm not expecting to see a premiership performance, just a good hardworking team that will play for each other and it sounds as if that is the case. I genuinely want them to do well but at the moment I'm probably still very disillusioned by football and the cocks behind it all, add that to the fact that I'm never home in the week so most games are unattainable to me might add to my lack of excitement.

The number for the Samaritans is 08457 90 90 90 - you might need it if you're going to support England, especially after the summer we've just had.

RH i agree with everything you say, and hence we want to make sure that no one idiot will be able to ruin our club again, there are way too many of them at other clubs higher up the league pyramid!!
Our aim was to have a team to watch this season in the name of Rushden and Diamonds and to provide the option for other fans to do so should they choose.
Of course being away on a thursday night will add to your lack of excitement!!
If you get the chance at all pop down, if not then hope you'll give it a go with the full mens team next season

I meant to save money and travel with the england team, I have no other real ties and can afford it.

Also finding it tough to bring myself to going to watch the under 18's. After following the club for 16 years and hardly missing a home match, i'm not really up for midweek lads footy. Maybe this will change when the mens team starts!
