A bit more from either Masons news agency or probably PA, picture of the family is from one of our photographers.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

One Dale Roberts.

It's horrible that he felt like that and didn't realise that he had literally hundreds of people who idolised him and would've done anything to help him.
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

'Dale told him [his agent Cyrille Regis] Justin [Edinburgh, his manager] had shouted at him and said, "if you were my son I would kick you up the backside". Dale said he asked for a counsellor but did not get one.'
............
He said: 'He was quite distant. Dale wasn't the greatest communicator off the pitch. He was such a nice lad, I wish I could have done more to have stopped this.'

Mr Roberts's mother stormed out of the inquest as the manager gave his evidence.
What do we derive from that? Reading all that is so sad. Brings it all back again.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

That makes tragic reading. I didn't realise he was in that bad a state mentally. Horrible stuff.

You can make a judgement on JE based on that alone surely? Is now a time to run head first into conclusions - managers do have a job to motivate players, he couldn't have known.

I'd also wait to see how other newspapers report it.

I've entered a competition to earn a placement with the BBC this December at Sports Personality of the Year. I had to write a piece on 'My Sporting Hero'. I picked Dale.

Coincidentally, I had the interview with someone from the BBC today. She said she was in tears after reading it and it touched the heart of her husband who is also high-up in the BBC pyramid. From what she said today, I'm not fussed if I get the placement or not. To know that I have made people understand a bit more about what we went through is all that has mattered to me. What's more though, if I get the placement, I only have Dale to thank.

The Mail weren't there themselves, that copy is most likely from PA, which is likely to be who everyone else uses.

As you'll see this is identical copy slightly rewritten by the torygraph

However I wouldn't judge Justin unfairly on that one quote, you don't know the rest of the context of what he said and if Dale never told him what was going on at home how would he know what was really wrong?
