I realise that and didn't feel you were. I just was unsure of stepping on anyone's toes so raised the question as a sort of feeler.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:Thanks for that, stamboy wrote:I appreciate that very much as I'm sure does everyone else does too. There is a lot of great work being done by people here which is what makes the club great and feel more of a community. I tire of being treated as a walking ATM by Premiership clubs, which is one of the reasons I started watching Rushden a few years ago as you feel more valued.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:As much as the club would wish to organise transport for away games, we are only volunteers and have day jobs as well as working to get this club in shape, this would only add to our work load at the moment.
If someone wishes to volunteer to organise this, then we would be eternally grateful.
I'm sure that a car share would also be a good idea 8-)
I don't mind taking ownership of this task and will look into it and report back to members re costs, etc.
Keep up the good work ;-)
Cheers
I wasn't having a go at anyone, I only wanted to encourage people to step forward and help the club in anyway they can.
Thanks again 8-)

Re: Transport for away games
An update.
The historical bus suggestion isn't really a goer as they aren't allowed to hire out, only accept donations. This itself isn't a problem as we could donate our tickets cost collectively. However, regular trips are a problem and could be seen as a business for which they don't have the license/legal status.
However, for a one-off it could be fine and something we could investigate for perhaps a big day out with pub stops at various villages ;)
I've had a couple of replies on the cost of a 49/53 seater from Wellingborough to Northampton. As a ballpark figure for 5 hrs hire would be £280 which works out at just under £6. We may be able to negotiate a reduced rate if we book regularly.
The 32 seater incidentally was £260 which didn't seem to be a goer as only £30 more for an extra 17 seats (49 seater). Obviously, if only 32 people going or less though it would be the desired option.
Obviously the longer we require the coach for and the further distance travelled, the price would increase, seeing as cost involved is hire time and mileage.
Is there any initial interest in this at this price?

Re: Transport for away games
Just a thought - for some of the games (in Northampton) I'm not sure there's any need for our own bus, because the public transport to Northampton isn't that bad and there's a chance we could lose money. The games I think that a bus would be in demand for are: Bourne Town, Buckingham Town, Bugbrooke, Eynesbury, Harrowby, Oadby, Olney, Potton and Wooton. The others appear to be quite straight forward. Of course some might prefer to go as a group of fans.

R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

Thanks for your comments and I do appreciate your concerns re cost and other alternative public buses.
However, some people might prefer a door to door service or the camraderie of a supporters coach. We could also ask for a couple of additional drop-off and collection points that a normal bus wouldn't necessarily cover (or could mean a change of bus)
I wasn't anticipating us losing money as we wouldn't run the bus unless there was enough demand and we had received the money in advance from supporters for any game in question. Maybe that we don't do it at all or just run 4 or 5 buses a season. We would need to be organised well in advance to run a coach.
Re: Transport for away games
Well done on progressing this initiative. I suggest you get someone to point out the people who've run the Travel Club in the past - perhaps at one of the friendlies - and they'll give you a few pointers on the best way to arrange things and what to watch out for.
You'll get a better idea of likely demand over the next few weeks too. Once we see the fixture list it might also help - if our first game is away at a ground with limited parking that might make a difference too.

Good point, I'll be there Saturday does anyone know the names of people who ran it before? Helen was ages ago when I used a supporters coachFormic wrote:Well done on progressing this initiative.
