i had a night of having to sit on the fence and i must say it was quite uncomfortable,,,,first half i thought corby had the upper hand, once they scored, for some reason they then lost their way, thus letting diamonds back in.secound half it was a different story and we kept getting in great positions ,but lacked the killer instinct.....on the whole diamonds should have won....the secound goal was just evil ,massive fluke, massive deflection over alexs head...
as for why they/my lad was playing for them boils down to education,,,,,,,,he was already going to join raunds manor college before he was playing for diamonds ,,,,the other thing i would add is raunds have 2 teams,,,,1-raunds manor academy(basicaly first years at school)
2-corby town u19s(secound years) ; some of OUR lads have already pushed their way into this team(unfortunate for the draw though)
the other night ,while at the d&d one of the corby officials turned round, when questioned ,and said its the boys choice who they play for....rubbish....he was in charge of raunds manor academey NOT corby 19s.......
you also have to look at it from the boys perspective.....there are 40 lads waiting in the wings to take their place(which i would have to say i think would happen,as a punishment, sad i know)
also the daily issue of unity playing for your daily club /schooling

the saddest part of this, is i know a couple of the lads were going to fake injuries  so they didnt have to play(even sadder is i agreed with them   )
at the moment diamonds arent in the position to offer this kind of schooling yet,but lets hope in the future we can, wouldnt that be GREAT.so please dont chastise these lads ,i dont think they had much choice. sorry for the essay

Personally, I think it was right for the lads to play for Corby on Monday. It was a rather strange situation, but like you say Dunc, they are going through a scholarship at Corby, and had we been the club with which they were doing their education, I would have been very disappointed had they played for Corby over us.

It gave some of our other lads a chance they might not have got otherwise, and they took it superbly. All that was missing was a couple of goals.
