Re: ON Chenecks (GAME NOW OFF)
Efforts are being made to get the game on and hopefully we'll know more in the morning - from a purely selfish perspective I hope its off as I'll be away so will miss it........but the reality is we need to get it played and with the run we're on at the moment I think we need to keep the momentum going. Fingers crossed !!

Re: ON Chenecks (GAME NOW OFF)
In case anyone is wondering, the Chenecks Reserves v Ringstead Rangers Reserves has now been postponed - but obviously that's no help to us at this late stage. Our rearranged game v Chenecks adds to our set of Saturday away games as expected. http://www.afcdiamonds.com/201213-senio ... nd-results
As I mentioned on another thread, to only have 8 Saturday home league games in a 37 week season, even allowing for FA competitions, ground-sharing and postponements doesn't seem to be very fair. (There look like being 16 Saturday away league games if we don't get further postponements).

The UCL should be hanging their heads in shame. We have close to 100 members Under 10 and the night games mean that they can't watch the team on a school night as it finishes too late.Formic wrote: As I mentioned on another thread, to only have 8 Saturday home league games in a 37 week season, even allowing for FA competitions, ground-sharing and postponements doesn't seem to be very fair. Also a 36-game season that has to stretch to early May is ludicrous, even taking postponements and cups into consideration. I don't understand why there were no August/September midweek games. This league is a ****ing joke.

Re: ON Chenecks (GAME NOW OFF)
I've mentioned this a few times and did wonder, knowing full well what was going to happen when it got to winter, why there weren't any midweek games til October. Someone did say it was because of replays in the early stages of comps like the fa cup and vase, but having a look back at the Div 1 fixtures for August and September, there were a few weeks where hardly anyone had a game midweek, e.g the week after the Thrapston game, only Oadby had a game in the battle of britain cup (whatever it is), the 2nd week after the Wootton game, only Bugbrooke had a game in the fa cup and then the weeks after the Harrowby and Olney games, not a single team in the division had a midweek game.Sara Pascoe wrote:Also a 36-game season that has to stretch to early May is ludicrous, even taking postponements and cups into consideration. Even if there is the potential for replays at that stage of the season, there's so few teams that will actually have those replays, that I really don't see any reason why there couldn't have been a game or 2 in those weeks like most leagues have.

What was the reason for the postponement? Anything other than an unfit pitch would be a disgrace.Formic wrote:In case anyone is wondering, the Chenecks Reserves v Ringstead Rangers Reserves has now been postponed

The ucl prem must have played midweeks near the start of the season as they're 10 games ahead of us! Holbeach are on 70+ points already

Re: ON Chenecks (GAME NOW OFF)
I do wish the UCL would try to explain the logic of some of their fixture scheduling. For example we now have a blank Saturday on 23rd March, which was scheduled to be Potton away until a week or two ago. The Potton away game is now later in the season 27/4, which is a date when the Dog & Duck is free. We can't rearrange a home game for 23rd March as Wellingborough are at home that day.
Similarly, next weekend both us and the Doughboys are away - yet with our 8/16 imbalance of home versus away Saturday league games the situation seems to get worse rather than better.
If there is an additional issue with Thrapston or Northampton Spencer being unable to play midweek home games that should have been stated earlier to help explain some of these apparent anomalies.
