Re: New Signing - Nat Liburd
Firstly welcome to the forum "Brownie" ;) Secondly defensive options are as follows:
Brownie, Gilly, Merrill, Hopey, Brad, Parky, and Deaks. Also Sean can play right back if required.
But yes agree we need another CB or utility to cover the back line. I'm sure things are being worked on.

Not sure we need a squad of Utility players not sure what it's an anagram for as no J in it so not Jack of ....
If all above listed are available every week then almost there, however if Hopey not about all the time, Parky has ongoing health issues, Brad can play CH but not best position, Shan ditto re RB, didn't see enough of Merrill for last 5 months of season for whatever reasons, is Gillys best position RB. Leaving Deaks & Brownie :!: I rest my case your Honour. Lots of extra games this season so plenty of cover needed, the back 4 we played V Raunds away did a job but may not possibly be good enough V a good UCL Prem side.

PS Thanks for welcome, if wrong on Toffee who else may I possibly be :?:

Re: New Signing - Nat Liburd
My personal view is that Joe, Gilly, Hopey, Deaks, Parky and Sam are all more than good enough for us to challenge. The only poisition I'd look at is a back-up for Sam. then you have the issue of someone of Sam's ability being happy to come as a back-up. With Joe able to cover LB if needed it may give us the chnace to spend a year or two developing someone like Ben Roche.
Don't forget that Sam is only 20/21 and still getting better so I would hope he's around for a good few years yet.
Regardless I have absolute faith that the management know exactly what and who is needed. With Dunks and Nat it's good to see the business being done early.
Brownie is Andy Brown and I claim my five pounds

Re: New Signing - Nat Liburd
My opinion is that a lot of these concerns are just down to timings - if you've thought of this then the management team probably have too and are likely to be doing something about it. If we'd recently signed 2 defenders everyone would be saying that we need more options up front, but as things are it appears that the opportunities to sign attackers have come up first and hence those are the signings that have been made. There's a fair way to go yet until we even start pre-season friendlies, never mind the season proper.
Re: New Signing - Nat Liburd
You assume to much Mr Bond.
Don't think the other Brownie is even 21 yet :?:
Just trying to realistically gauge what is needed to compete at business end of the league & not quite there yet in my opinion. Though much will depend on how much is thrown at teams by the money Clubs mainly Spalding & possibly Sileby though I'm sure the 30 regular fans of the latter would not expect many changes.
From the 18s games I saw last season & the odd appearances made by youth players from previous year wouldn't want to rush any in to quickly, hopefully the 21s will be a good development ground for them.

I'll only start worrying if come August we still don't have another defender in place. Plenty of time yet, and players have only just started to come back from holidays.

Re: New Signing - Nat Liburd
We're going to have to go some to beat this lot:
That Nathan Stainfield they've signed played 46 times for Boston last season, picking up 10 MOM awards. Spalding must be paying some SERIOUS dough. It seems to be a case of if you can’t beat them, sign them for Spalding United this summer after they swooped for another Holbeach United hero.
The Tulips have announced the capture of star striker Andrew Tidswell from the UCL Premier Division champions, making it four signings from their South Holland rivals.
Also moving to the Sir Halley Stewart are Boston United centre back Nathan Stainfield and ex-Stamford hitman Sam Mullarkey.
But it’s the move for Tidswell that will have football fans in South Holland talking. The striker won the UCL’s golden boot last term – scoring home and away against Spalding as he passed 30 goals.
He joins ex-Holbeach skipper Jamie Stevens, Tigers’ supporters’ player of the year Jonny Allen and fans favourite Adam Jackson in crossing the local divide – and Spalding supremo Pat Rayment reckons he can only get better.
“You’ve got to imagine that Andrew will score even more goals for us,” said Rayment. “A lot of his goals last year came off his own bat – but he’ll get more help from the team here.
“I know he had a number of other offers, so we’re delighted to bring him here.”
The signings of Stainfield (pictured, above) and Mullarkey shouldn’t be underestimated, either.
Former Bourne Town defender Stainfield was offered terms to stay with the Pilgrims next year, but has opted instead to drop two levels with the ambitious Tulips.
Pacey frontman Mullarkey, meanwhile, hasn’t played since leaving Stamford over the winter. But he was a regular thorn in Spalding’s side during his Lincoln United days and will add another formidable attacking option.
Having also snapped up former St Neots skipper Lewis Webb last week, Rayment now reckons his summer signing spree is already over.
He added: “Getting Stainfield is a real coup, I’m surprised we’ve managed to tempt him here. He’s a real physical presence and really gives us the best defensive options possible at this level.
“Sam has great pedigree and there’s no doubting his ability. If we can provide him with a decent playing environment he’ll be a fine option.
“As far as I’m concerned, that’s our business done. The aim now is to improve on last season’s success and challenge on all fronts. The usual people will say it’s all about the money here, but you don’t win the UCL on pennies.
“We’ve never denied that we’ve got a good budget here, but we’ll not be the only ones.”

And I assume you mean Boston United and not Town, that's a hell of a signing, where do these clubs get their money fromBartonRaz wrote:We're going to have to go some to beat this lot:
