I think it's really his decision if he says he doesn't want to come back and fight for his place, not really the place of the club.

Not sure that I'm following all of this

Surely Tom had the shirt and it was for others to fight to get it off him

I can't believe that he wouldn't have started against Spalding had the game been played

Do you realy think the lad would of left Cogenhoe as first choice to come and sit on our bench? I think he would of been told he would be first choice (would way No1 but can't).

I think we are over egging Tom. He certainly does not command his area and has been very lucky on more than one occasion and of course has made a couple of howlers.
He is better than Quincy but not outstanding.
Goalkeeper has been our weak link last season and this, maybe the new guy from Cogenhoe is just what we need.

Tom Cross is a great lad, a very good distributor of the ball and a decent shot stopper but quite frankly for a goalie of his height he was poor under the high ball, particularly when under pressure from opposing forwards. Incidentally he was signed by Banbury United in August 2012 as cover for Matt Finlay who incurred a groin injury. Once fit Matt joined Stamford AFC and then was an ever present in their promotion winning season whilst Tom left Banbury after only a couple of months to drop a division with Evesham United. It is clear that Matt has considerable experience at Steps 3 and 4 and has played for Cogenhoe in every match this season and they have a reasonable defensive record.
I think changes of this nature are going to continue to happen in our ever developing squad and Starms and Peaksey need our continued backing over making such judgements.
