They've always had a decent following for their status. They have a bit of history, being a former football league club and often featured in Europe.

Strictly speaking the current Newport County club is a completely new one only being formed in 1989 after the previous one went out of business a year earlier.

The only reason it took a replay to beat them was because their striker (can't remember his name now) clearly dived to win a penalty at their place. Still, justice was done with Sam Smith's last minute equaliser in the replay and the subsequent shoot-out victory, especially as Dale saved Rob Duffy's spot kick to win it. :D
