I want to get out of this league more than anything but as a second or third place would be wrong. What if we we second by quite a few points how could we celebrate going up. For me it has to be as champions, nothing else. Slated teams before for getting promoted by ground rulings and also cant forget Rushden town getting relegated due to Hayden road.
I think you'll be in the minority there.

FWIW I don't think the discussion will be required as I think we're the best side in the league. We were much better than Holbeach and should have won that game. Yaxley are a better side than Holbeach but are doing what we did last season - dropping silly points. Given this announcement that only ourselves and Holbeach have applied, Yaxley's final position is pretty much irrelevant anyway.

Well of course I'd prefer to go up as champions and have a nice league trophy to put in out cabinet, but I'm sorry, if we're in a position to get promoted by the end of the season I will, regardless of our position, be delighted and plenty of clubs from this level have been promoted having not finished as champions in the past.

Like everyone else, I'm desperate to celebrate winning the league, look at how we celebrated at Spencer - just think how mental it will be if we're Champions :)

But, if we don't finish top and those that do haven't shown the ambition to apply for promotion when we have, so be it !!

But I hate this kind of talk, we need to keep our eyes on the prize and remain focused - 21 cup finals to go and 63 points to win !! I think this group of players are very keen to win the title and go up as Champions and I think we're good enough to do just that as well. Just need luck with injuries and refereeing decisions, the lads are good enough if we stay focused !!

But if it's within the rules, I'll take promotion anyway I can to get out of the UCL setup - I think it's imperative for this club to keep moving forward !!

Is there any point in applying when you realistically have no hope? Haverhill Rovers have applied for promotion despite currently sitting 11th, 20 points behind the leaders. Whats the point...

Suggest it's an opportunity to get their ground formally approved for Step 4 football. Will give them an indication, if it fails, to see what is needed to get approval for the following season when they may be in a position to have a real go at promotion. The fee for applying is to pay for the ground inspection which is £100 plus VAT.
