With our win tonight coupled with Cogenhoe's defeat there are now only four teams that can catch us - and our promotion target is now three wins from our 6 remaining games to reach 92 points and guarantee we are ahead of Holbeach.

(Table showing current points in blue, and maximum points in bold)

POS P W D L GD PTS Max Pts
1 AFC Rushden & Diamonds 34 26 5 3 74 83 101
2 Wisbech Town 33 24 4 5 59 76 97
3 Thurnby Nirvana 33 24 2 7 49 74 95
4 Holbeach United 32 21 4 7 42 67 91
5 Yaxley 34 21 4 9 28 67 85

It's all ifs, buts and maybes, but if results go our way elsewhere it's possible for us to win the title against Wellingborough on the 11th April - now that would be sweet :)

Jolly Joe and Smiley Steve have announced they will be leaving Welly at the end of the season as they felt that we could not be competitive on the expenses budget that the club is prepared to pay

It's is thought that Joe will begin the next season at his 178th UCL club, and finish it at his 182nd

Getting ever closer, last night was a major hurdle and a big 3 pts, get another 3 on Sat, with what should be 6 from the Sileby and Buckby as long as we perform as we are that will be 1st objective achieved and the P word, it`s then 2 wins from Welly, Pagnell and Cogenhoe to secure the C word, sounds easy when put like that doesn`t it. And that is assuming Wisbech win all remaining games, which they won`t.

2 Wisbech Town 33 24 4 5 59 76 97
3 Thurnby Nirvana 33 24 2 7 49 74 95
4 Holbeach United 32 21 4 7 42 67 91

Those scores on the doors are not achievable by all 3 teams.

on 6/4 Wisbech play at home to Holbeach and on 15/4 Holbeach play at home to Thurnby.

On the form book Hobeach would make 85 points, so you could say this weekend in theory we could be promoted but that's according to the current form of the Teams in contension.

Indeed.

If we do win on Saturday it puts Yaxley out of the equation, and there's a sporting chance our top 3 place might possibly be confirmed when Holbeach travel to Sileby on Easter Saturday (when we don't have a game), as they will have played two games before that and possibly dropped points. Failing that, we might have a chance to clinch a top 3 place on Easter Monday when we host Long Buckby.

Sooner than that in fact. If we win on Saturday we will have 86 pts. If Holbeach lose to Oadby on Saturday and then to Deeping on Tuesday 31st. their maximum would then be 85 pts.
We could therefore secure promotion as early as next Tuesday whilst we are "entertaining" Wisbech in the League Cup.

If anyone is going it may well be a 3.36 ko as no doubt the will be some roadworks and congestion somewhere that Holbeach will be unaware of, don`t think they have started an away game on time since Feb. If someone is there can you please do one thing, go up to Andy Tidswell and say "WHY"
