Register Dales father as a goalkeeper and register him as our number 1 keeper, giving him the shirt.

Then obviously just let Finley play with whatever shirt number he played with last season.

Just had a suggestion from a Chelsea fan, let's number it 01 rather than just 1.

Won't work. There aren't registered 'playing numbers' in Step 2 and below. Starting players are expected to wear 1-11 hence the Southern League's stance. At Step 1 level it didn't matter since a Club didn't need to give a player a Squad Number 1.

Well I know I certainly would support the club in completely ignoring this nasty and unnecessary ruling and just giving Finlay the number 17 jersey as per usual, surely the SL would have to be exceptional twats to fine us for it, it's an insulting ruling to the club and Dale's family, why can an exception not be made?

If anyone is interested, the Evo-Stik brand is owned by Bostik who have several twitter accounts (although all sadly seem to be US-based).

These are:

@bostik
@bostik_US
@bostik_IND

Bostik are a subsidiary of the Arkema group

If we get a fine, I would happily chip in. Just can't believe how insensitive the southern league are being, we wore a 117 shirt in FA cup games so it must of had their approval.

I would support ignoring this rule and I'd also donate to a fund to pay the fine. I completely agree with TTT I don't want to see the no.1 ever used. The Southern League come out of this looking very bad, so let's stick two fingers up to them. It has absolutely no impact on the match.

Hopefully the FA will rule in our favour, until then let's see if the SL are prepared to fine us.

As we are 'appealing' the decision of the Southern League we have every right to continue using Number 17 for our goalkeeper.

In case anyone missed it on twitter, a petition was set up:

Still think the FA will surely see sense and help us here though and I really hope we stand up to the decision and not use the no. 1 shirt tomorrow.

Now one of the top stories on the BBC Football site as well, didn't see that coming especially with the start of the PL tomorrow. With that sort of pressure and the support of the football community, the SL being made to look like utter twats, surely we'll get a positive resolution to this.
