In any event we wouldn't be able the afford the other half not unless we had the Ploppies budget as well.Pigman wrote:We've got enough ex-Ploppies here already thank you

Re: Andy Peaks
To suggest that Peaks has lost the dressing room is ludicrous!DeBankeFaithful wrote:The last few performances I've witnessed have been abysmal! For the money we have payed out on players we should have cruised this league! I'm afraid to say it but I think that Andy Peaks is starting too lose the dressing room and is failing to get the best out of his players! My opinion is my opinion, I'd like to hear yours? Thanks DeBankeFaithful

To be honest, I'm surprised the blip didn't come sooner than it has, the players have to take some of the blame, it's not all on Peaksy.
I think we all would have taken the play-offs at the start of the season. But if we miss out this year, then maybe another season in this league won't be so bad? Next year we can build on this year.
We didn't win promotion from the UCL Prem in our first year of being in the league, but then look how last year turned out!

I have 100% faith that Andy will turn this bad run around.

Re: Andy Peaks
Let's not get into this 'Change the manager' after a short dip in form.
We do not have a right to win the league / get promoted / even just to win games.
If someone had said we'd be in this position at the start of the season I'd be very happy.

Re: Andy Peaks
I think a number a number of factors have given a few supporters some concern over the last few weeks, like the poor results, bringing in quite a few new faces and players under performing. This is maybe why people are questioning the performance of the manager as all this is happening at once. Yes most would have taken this position at the start but a few months ago we seemed to be in control of this league and let it slip. We hadn't really seen a side better than us. That's the disappointing thing, but peaksy and his team have the ability to put us back on track and hopefully we'll finish in the top five
Re: Andy Peaks
Royston have looked better than us in both games we've played them - the first of which was well before this current drama. Beaconsfield tore us apart with an excellent passing game, and were much the better side when we played at their place. I think many Diamonds fans had become blinkered with all of our success, and our abilities to grind out results even when we weren't playing too well - even when it looked clear Royston would be our biggest threat. We'd seen with our cup games against Barwell and Basford that we were vulnerable against teams that pressed us up the pitch, and our game at Godalming showed we might struggle against a packed midfield even if our defenders were allowed time on the ball.TheIncognitoKid wrote:I think a number a number of factors have given a few supporters some concern over the last few weeks, like the poor results, bringing in quite a few new faces and players under performing. I think the biggest issue is our central midfield. I don't know how match fit Tom Manship is, as he seems to have played so little, but he seemed to use too much energy trying to have a go at the Northwood #10 on Saturday. I became a bit confused about whether he or Jepson were meant to be getting forward to support the front line. I'd like to see Brad Harris back in his holding role with either Jepson or Quigley getting forward on Saturday.
The other concern is whether our full backs can support the wide players more. They both had decent games on Saturday, with Kennedy starting to get forward more as the game went on, but we certainly miss Sam Brown.
I think we are lucky to have Andy Peaks, as he is able to attract the right sort of players to the club and motivate them accordingly. His target at the start of the season was to make the playoffs, and that aim is still a possibility.

Actually, I forgot about Royston. They destroyed us in the second half of the home match, but we did lead at half time and crumbled in the second.Formic wrote:Royston have looked better than us in both games we've played them - the first of which was well before this current drama. Re: Andy Peaks
Andy is a terrific club manager on many levels, a lot unseen. This poor run will end once our confidence comes back and we're a bit more adventurous going forwards. I quite like the Stevenson in midfield suggestion as we're desperate for some creativity in there. Now's the time for this team to take games by the scruff of the neck and dominate.

Re: Andy Peaks
I think it would be foolish to turf Andy out after four losses and a draw after the previous two years of almost uninterrupted success - at the start of the season, I remember him saying in the ET that he was hoping to 'compete around the playoff spots' - so he's certainly delivered there. The cup run we put together produced some great memories and the highest-ever attendance for the club, and he still may give us the chance to beat K*ttering in Northampton.
Saturday, there were signs of improvement, especially in the first half. All that we lacked from that was goals, which I am sure everyone is working hard to achieve. It will come together, I'm sure. Let's keep the faith in the man who gave us our first ever senior silverware with the double last season, and who might give us the county cup next month.
