The discount would more than cover the cost of becoming a trust member though - and there is still the second discount period up until the end of May which is available to everyone.

Rewarding the loyalty of either existing Season Ticket Holders or Trust Members is a good idea IMO.

It's a good idea but limits the club to those two groups.

if you apply for a season ticket before the first cut off date, you'll get the cheaper price. i did last year. and i wasn't a current season ticket holder or a trust member.

Maybe the decision on season ticket prices has been influenced a little by the fact that we had 1 less game this season due to the Chester debacle, i.e. a form of compensation for those who commit their money up front.
Just a thought.

The discounts last year were great and caused me to get one immediately at that price. £106 for an early concession standing was ridiculously cheap. So much so in fact the club has probably lost money in the short term on it. £106 (cheapest ST price)/£8 (matchday price) - thats not even 14 games (exactly 13.25) you are effectively paying for, let alone the club shop discount as most will want a shirt, taking the effective price down to under 13 games. Lets just hope everyone has been spending money on food and programmes!

Applying the same logic to this seasons prices £131/£8 would be 16(.375) matches paid for. Still cheap. If you factor in that this looks like there will be a £1 increase in matchday prices (seriously doubt they would do 50p or not increase ST prices if it is £2) in the concession band - 131/9 = 14.55 games worth of ticket income.

The season tickets still offer great value for money in the early discounts at least.

Rewarding loyalty also means people are more likely to renew - in the knowlege that future prices won't take a hike should they want one again. The prices still aren't that bad for new ones before the cutoff date.

An idea I would like to see is an "introduce a friend" type deal, wherby someone who has a season ticket could get an inbetween price for a friend hasn't got one this year, or maybe limit it to people who haven't had a season ticket before (or for, say 3 seasons or something), using the same first deadline, that might help getting people attending more regularly who would have thought twice about getting a season ticket. Also with this seated season ticket holders could get their seats near/next to eachother (dependant on availability), and it would encourage people who have been going more casually to go more often, making it a more social thing with friends with season tickets etc, possibly bringing more into it over the course of the season (and making them potential season ticket holders for future seasons under the same scheme...).

I would drop Matt an email if I were you. Might be worth exploring in the future or possibly between the end of the season and the start of the next if it is decided that the benefits outweigh the risks.

I have the letter in front of me, and i have to say it is very misleading.

I showed my old man it (the one who pays for the season tickets ;) ) and he noticed it almost immediately without me saying a word to him.

The standard season ticket prices may be the same, but the discounts are much less.

My Dad found out how much he paid in the previous 2 seasons for 2 season tickets (one concession and one adult) in the south stand.

In fairness he isn't too bothered about the extra 50 quid, but i'm not sure everyone will be so forgiving about having wool blatantly pulled over their eyes. Whilst the 'headline' isn't wrong, it isnt strictly true.

That's a 0.65% increase over the price 2 years ago and includes the possibility of playing in a higher league so it can't be that bad.

Ive booked mine, the first person to do so :lol:

I'm not saying its bad. I'm simply saying the letter is misleading.
