This is just an observation not to be taken as a criticism. Much has been made of Burges connections but he has only signed four NEW players. Lashley, Cooper, Fossen and Evan. And Evan joined us because he moved to Northampton to study and was recommended by Tim Dudding. The fact we have "promoted" so many from u21's and u 23s says that they are as good as anything available on the open market or we cannot afford the ridiculous wages demanded. At this stage I have not included the Cobblers duo as they have not yet been confirmed. I would expect Sutherland to sign shortly but not sure about Wilson.

another positive game,,,backs to the wall first half, but coped quite well against a strong brackley side,,,courtney was turned inside out by their tricky physical little winger,, ,,,it will be a great learning curve,,, but he never let his head drop ,,,,back four did ok,although very quiet (voice wise).no hicksey through injury, wilson up front,,was ineffective, again,,,i would have liked to see the lad from northampton and jenson(great goal) up front.i personaly would like to see a big centre back/leader come in,,,,still got the viking to come in ,hicksey back and fernando to come in,,,thats quite a spine to come back in,,,,,my only negative to the team is burge,,,,its starting to bug me now,,,,he sits in the dug out for long periods of games, where other managers are out in the technical area,,,to me it gives off the wrong vibes to the players,,,if your 3 nil up i understand,,,,,anyhow, young lads did ok,we are still going in the right direction :good: :good:

I think that’s a fair criticism actually. I don’t think the ‘recruitment’ has gone to plan. I’m not sure signing such a large number of U23s/U21s means they’re as good as what’s out there, I see it as partly filling up the numbers in the squad and if they were that good we’d of seen more of them with Peaksy.

Fossen is going to need weeks to get up to match speed, I think he’s still rowing his way from Norway honestly.

Wilson has showed nothing in the two games he’s been trialled in. I think the mini Brackley duo of York and Stead won more headers than him.

I think we have enough youth about us now. Time to open the kitty (I can hear the shrieks from some you now at the thought of it) BUT there’s giving a team of youth patience, and then there’s only signing youth and shooting yourself in the foot waiting for them to potentially come good when you can help the team along with signing quality, prime example being Snedker.

Burgess was very animated during games last season. I hadn't noticed he wasn't doing that this season but if not, maybe it's because it's pre-season.

I believe the winger from Brackley a couple of people have referred to was Cosmos Matwasa, who is only on trial at Brackley having been at Stamford last season.

Fossen I would assume is an issue of international clearance which can take months. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Pretty sure the FA can give temporary clearance after 30 days after signing. And if it does take months then it’s quite irresponsible to give a contract to a player knowing it could take so long.

I don't think we have given a contract to anybody yet, except the manager.

As per the article when we signed them, Fossen and Lashley have both signed contracts for the season.

Was Fossen at the Northampton behind closed doors game? Going by that he was allowed to play…
