I think the Club is like any organisation, country when one leader leaves who has been holding everything together for years suddenly there is a power vacuum, everything goes thru a period of shaky stability until another person who has the respect of all finally comes to the fore.

I have been over the years on many Committees and seen this all before, Cliques form and suddenly nobody gets on together, one pulls this way and the other pulls that way, the writing was on the wall in hindsight when the Club could not find a new chairperson and we went fifty/fifty never a real solution for leading any club or institution.

I for one (sorry i missed the AGM) never got to grips why we never found a new chairperson after supposedly having a few people interested in the position and i think the clubs members lost a lot of what is going on when the board stopped publishing board meeting minutes it put members more in the dark of what was happening.

Well those that called for a clear the air meeting have got it,unfortunately I am on holiday on the date that has been given but hopefully there will be a really good turn out as it looks like the future of our club rests on this meeting. We have all been given a chance to start to put things right,it's in our hands so don't let's bicker but be constructive and make sure we have a club to support that everyone can be proud of.

As Chris is his dad I presume he told Joe what happened, he probably shown him the CCTV himself, if you are a club official and you have been attacked you should make a copy of the CCTV just in case the blame gets pinned on you.

Although unless it was totally random, the other party could claim that Chris was goading him into it because without sound you don't know what was being said.

The McCormack family have since been showing a united from by tweeting a cringey #TeamMcCormack

Something that I do find worrying... Some people will probably assume from that tweet that #TeamMcCormack are happy with Richard Maxwell being appointed - if someone has used the appointment of Richard Maxwell to either be violent or instigate violence towards Chris McCormack - then they must be banned for life.

Disagreeing with an appointment or being shocked by an appointment and raising concerns about said appointment is one thing... but if you are one of those people who claim Richard Maxwell is a bully - and you are the one throwing a punch - you then become a bully.

That’s the kind of person Joseph is, he supported Burge till the end when others were calling for his head, and he’ll do the same with Maxwell.

I hope it doesn't turn out that the mystery chairperson waiting in the wings for next year is Richard Maxwell.

I think some heads would literally explode!

Just had an intriguing discussion with an Ebbsfleet fan about how tricky things can be. I have a question.

Members will need to vote and appoint new members to the board shortly - if they don't, the club will end up shutting down.

Let's imagine most of the members are against the appointment of Richard Maxwell because of his lack of experience.

Let's also imagine that those members also think it is wrong that a board member was able to be appointed as manager.

Could those members say that they are not going to take part in any vote until Richard Maxwell is removed as manager? and a new rule is implemented - meaning if the board don't do it - the club ends up shutting down?

I feel there could be a significant number of fans who would become members if they could...
  • Force the board to remove Richard Maxwell from his post.
  • Implement a rule that would ensure any current or previous board member would never be allowed to become manager or interim manager of the club.

There was an agreement that Matt Ward would stand down if Chris McCormack stood down - so it should be possible to implement a rule that board members can't become manager, I feel the rule would protect the long term interests and integrity of the club because 6 years from now - another board member may fancy becoming manager.

Salford City is the only football club I can think of where you may hear fans calling for a board member to become manager - because they are all famous footballers, with the exception of Salford City fans, I don't think you will find any club where the fans want a board member to become the manager - so if there was a vote on whether to invoke such a rule - I bet very few if any would reject it.

Some interesting points. I do believe from reading and listening to other people a change in manager is going to be critical in moving this forward.

That seems a rather convoluted and underhand way of changing things, and I don't think it would work in practice anyway.

We need a fresh start based on openness and honesty. Ideally I'd want to see the current board stand down after the EGM, and to have a contested election for a new board - that's not to say that I don't want any of the current board to continue, but they would need to be democratically re-elected. Each candidate would need to present a mission statement on how they see the club moving forward, which might or might not include their thoughts on whether there should be a change in first team manager. Once elected, it would be up to the new board to agree upon Maxwell's fate and to appoint a replacement if necessary.

My concern is we won't have enough candidates to have a contested election, but hopefully the recent issues will have galvanized a sufficient number of people into putting themselves forward.
