The twitter account says Diamonds well beaten by ruthless Tamworth, I didn't think we were well beaten and 5 or 6 would be ruthless not just 3, A loss is a loss but I thought it was a respectable result against the league leaders.
  • Play it out from the back.
  • 1 up front.
  • Man gets one good result via a new manager bounce and thinks he's Pep Guardiola.

From the outside that result looks like a routine win for Tamworth, but that wasn’t the case, I thought we were pushing for an equaliser at 2-1 down, then the ref completely ruins any momentum we might have had by overturning the linesman’s offside call for their third goal.

What must Peaksy think? All the hard work he did building a side that regularly competed at the right end of the table, Andy Burgess comes in and completely fucks that up, and to think I was getting flack for defending him during preseason 🤦‍♂️

I can imagine the conversation between the ref and the lino

Ref - I might have messed up here giving the goal
Lino - You did, it was as clear as day
Ref - Yeah, but I don't want to look like I've ballsed it up so I'm still going to give it
Lino - But everyone else in the ground knows it should be disallowed
Ref - still......................

Not seen Diamonds since the Trophy game v Tamworth but what I saw last night was definitely an improvement, that said could the current squad avoid the drop? I very much doubt it but there is something to work with for who ever comes in. At present to much inexperience, far to many basic errors made, lack of composure and sadly some there who are unfortunately just not good enough for this level.
Need someone in quick who can bring 5/6 experienced players at this level on a shoestring budget (given some of the not good enough category are on contracts🤦‍♂️) Burge really did do a great job of shafting the Club. Even that may not be enough 42 game season probably 40/42 points needed for safety so 20 games to get 30 points which is currently playoff form!!!
I know it’s early to mention it but the R word may not be the worst thing, rebuild and start next season winning games could be what’s needed to bring people back as the just over 200 last night must be close to an all time low for a league fixture.
On the positive side, though small in numbers there was a decent feel about the place last night and recent changes within the Club certainly appear to have aroused a level of optimism for the future, I even witnessed and experienced conversation between Board members and Supporters !!
As always was nice to catch up with a lot of people and hopefully next time I’m over many of the missing former regulars will be back, and thanks for the coffee Tim a lovely gesture on a damp cold night.

Still not sure Dave having watched the highlights, without slowing down or freeze framing which I’m sure someone will do. I had a decent view on the night and thought it may have come off a defender and even then still close call though I was talking to Alex Collards dad at the time!!
The clues could be not a single arm up or shout for offside and the very late indecisive flag. I’ll go with the Lino thought possibly off and flagged and the ref thought a defender touched it so not, hence the very brief conversation between them.

Having plenty of free world cup football on the TV to watch has probably played its part in the low attendances, 4 matches per day for a fortnight and then 2 per day, not forgetting the bonus of not having to go out in the cold.
