Apparently there was a group of men who were in the bar, no interest in watching the game. They just used it as an excuse to get bladdered, and was a bit of fistycuffs after the bar involving themselves. Throwing of pints etc.Bob's Bitch wrote:Echo the sentiments of OD, looking forward to getting out of this league. With Long Buckby, Sileby and Wellingborough still to play I think it's safe to say we're up. Holbeach won't get to their maximum points. Maybe we'll go on and win the title, but I'm not bothered about that, just getting out of this league and never having to see it again!
By the way, some talk of a bit of trouble after the game and accusations of racism by one of the Wisbech players, any truth in there?

Before the game, after Wisbech slipping up at PNS, I would have taken a point, although a win would have been great. I felt we were ok until we conceded, and then we just seemed to struggle for much of the rest of the game. We missed that little bit of pace in final third, which could have made a difference, although we very sloppy in possession.
That said, you have to credit the lads, despite not playing well, they did keep going. As far as I'm concerned Wisbech got what they deserved with the rampant time wasting throughout the second half, not helped a poor performance from the ref.
Onwards and upwards, the main thing at this stage is we got a result that keeps us very much in the driving seat.

Yes I agree. He just needs it to be pointed out that time wasting cost them the match.
Worst example, and there were many, was when the No 11 moved over to the touchline in front of Peter Ebdon Stand whilst every other player on the pitch was nearer to the dug outs, then lo and behold up goes the board calling him home!
Tommy Cheater certainly knows all the tricks, wonder who taught him? Should he have been booked for gestures to the crowd?

I agree it was a good one. But the Wisbech manager failed to point out about his team diving and wasting that/all amount of time which cost them the match.
We now need to focus on AFC Kempston Rovers on Tuesday and get the 3 points.

Please can we have some realism to yesterday. We didn't play well - thankfully Dolman was superb at the back while at times Confue & Bunting seemed the only ones prepared to get the ball moving. The equaliser was no more than we deserved but as Andy said afterwards we got out of jail free.
On the debit side Finlay was at fault for the goal, a second rush of blood could have seen Bunting sent off for a second bookable offence while Dunkley and Rogers were out of sorts.
The attendance was impressive and of course vocal but sometimes too vocal towards the referee who I thought had an excellent game. He got all the yellow cards right and cotrectly played 9 minutes of injury time thanks to the deliberate time wasting from Wisbech who I thought looked a decent team but got their tactics wrong in the second half. Don't forget this is a contact sport and the constant whingeing from Diamonds fans actually started to get to the referee
ho gave us one or two very questionable decisions late on.
Probably the most important point is that despite two indifferent performances in recent week both promotion and the title are well within our hands.

I knew they'd say that, its beyond belief, if anything I'd say 8 minutes might have not been quite enough eve, just one of the stoppages in the second half must have been 3/4 minutes in itself and there were 6 subs (which should be 3 minutes) and several 'injuries' to the Wisbech players which must have accumulated to a good few minutes too, so 8 minutes added on at the end really wasn't too much at all. And the no. 11 before going off was beyond ridiculous, I thought maybe he had just come off the pitch briefly because of injury, but no, he had actually deliberately gone to the other end of the pitch hadn't he. As was Tommy Treacher thinking he could just carry on the pitch after an 'injury', sorry mate, but you have to go off the pitch regardless of whether you were feigning injury or not :roll:davealbon wrote:Ha ha, what a prick, whinging about the amount of injury time! I think you'll be in a minority of less than two in that thoughtPressman wrote:the referee who I thought had an excellent game.
