Oooooooh excited! Are R&H still in the Vase? We need another game at Hayden Road, I've already decided that this one was awesome. Just the build-up has been great, I think this game might be the showpiece of the season, in terms of symbolism. 1,000 at Hayden Road, all happy, swaying merrily in the breeze, singing and singing. 4 miles down the road...
When was the last time you felt this excited about a game? Not shitting-yourself excitement (like I felt pre-Oxford), but happy excitement?
Back page of the Herald and Post (local freebie I think these days) and only tiny piece on the ET (now) NT, which after complaints from Mr S&L have seemingly toned down their coverage of us!
The ET coverage of the club is pretty piss poor, as is the newspaper.
Its a dying media and the ET have accelerated their own demise by going weekly.
Daily titles cant keep up with the news on a daily basis so the ET doesn't stand a chance once a week.
Imagine if something major happened on a Friday in East Northants and it was covered by the BBC and Sky, by the following Thursday when it appears in the ET it would be old news.
You can't cover local sport either weekly, you can't even cover local sport when all you do is reprint PR from desperate chairman looking to keep the wolves from the door for a few more days.
The ET won't be here in a year at this rate anyway so we should just look at other avenues to promote the club through Facebook, Twitter and other platforms like posters in shop windows.
Lets be honest a poster in a shop window might actually been seen by more people then the ET anyway!
Even on an historic weekend like this when the biggest gate of the day in Northamptonshire will be at Hayden Road they'll still just have a tin pot reporter at Nene Park covering a game which might attract 200 - 250 fans.
