Re: Desperate measures.....
What you're asking is what should be discussed at the members meeting on the 17th January, BartonRaz. Let's wait and see what the committee have to present to us before going down that speculative route, there might be delicate discussions going on that could be affected and we need to give our people room to manouevre.

Re: Desperate measures.....
Back on topic. ;)
It seems that O'Leary and Hughes-Mason may have played their last game for the Poppies according to Stimson so they're getting close to the point where they might not be able to field a side against Telford this weekend. Added to that the balance of the players wages had to be paid by today with December's money due on Thursday. The noose really is tightening with the Thorn takeover dead in the water and debts now in excess of £400k which I think may well be a conservative estimate.
Meanwhile back in Poppyland there's plenty of knashing of teeth, finger pointing, Trust bashing and still no consensus on what the fans should be doing to rescue the situation.
Happy days.

Re: Desperate measures.....
I think not having a permanent base will hamper anything anyone does.
I was with a chairman of a UCL club yesterday and he says since the Kings Lynn debacle of being put straight into the prem, which caused uproar it will never happen again and clubs now need a 15 year lease to enable them to be in the UCL Prem if they are not in it already. But you will only be in UCL Prem through promotion.
Not sure if that is correct as I thought it was 7 years appx.
All new clubs at best will start in UCL 1, if they are lucky according to him. Maybe even a season in the Northants Com to start with.
There maybe a number of new clubs about to start and if they allow one straight in the UCL Prem, they need to allow others, throwing their league into a farce. As the UCL 1 clubs will object to you or anyone else going in the Prem.
Regarding expanding grounds, to gain a grant for anything substancial you will need a water tight 10 year lease minimum ( or thats what it was)
Hope this helps.

Having not checked for any F.A updates but at present you only need a 2 year ground lease to play in the Conference National and a 10 year lease to play in the Football League so a 15 year lease seems a bit steep for the UCL.

As I said it was what a local chairman told me yesterday so going by h is word not mine, but I think to go in the UCL it will be longer than two required

Well found this on the F.A Websiteitsonlyagame wrote:As I said it was what a local chairman told me yesterday so going by h is word not mine, but I think to go in the UCL it will be longer than two required
1.1 Security of Tenure
The club must either:
1.1.1 own the freehold of the ground, or
1.1.2 as at 31 March in any year, have a lease for the ground that extends for a
minimum of the next full playing season, or
1.1.3 possess an agreement for the use of the ground which is acceptable to The
Football Association
In fact we do not have a ground so who we decide to groundshare with will help determine what League we will play in and the final decision will be made by the F.A and not other worried UCL Chairmen who may object to our inclusion as it may impact on their own Clubs.

ground sharing is only good for 1-2 years, a permanent home is needed

What was the issue with accepting King's Lynn in the Premier Division? They're a BIG club for the UCL and (like us) were formed out of the demise of their parent club. Constitutionally we are only "new" as it was the only way of keeping our "CLUB" going.

What "other" new clubs are starting up and how do they compare with our circumstances ? My impression was that we have to present a business plan to the UCL and they will decide on that. With our supporter base it's got to be a fairly solid one compared to others in that league, you'd have thought?
Hope this helps.
