One thing I don't really understand in all of this is their hero worship for Mark Cooper and the underlying optimism that can now be seen on Poppynet. The fact that he was the manager "during [their] most successful period" shows how little they've achieved in 140 years!
In my mind he seems to be quite an ordinary manager, more suited to cup competitions. He got Tamworth to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup in consecutive seasons so that's a plus, but in 2006 they would've been relegated to the Conference North if it hadn't have been for Canvey Island giving them a reprieve. Then he went to K*ttering and won the Conference North as the only full-time side in the league with Ladak still interested and putting quite a bit in to get the success. Any manager can do that IMO, look at Steve Evans, a glorified chimp but even he managed to win the BSP when given large enough resources.
He's then gone to Peterborough and only won 1 in 13 before being sacked and then gone to Darlington and clearly spunked quite a lot of cash up the wall (something that's now become apparent!) with only the FA Trophy (another cup) to show for it. I'm really not seeing how he's this fantastic manager, he's just a cup manager.
