Re: [ Sat 20th Oct ] v Burton Park Wanderers KO 3pm UCL1 HOME
Sorry, the point I was trying to make, but didn't, was that the volunteers we had was barely enough to cover everything we need to (we didn't do chips on Saturday because we didn't have enough people) and I'm already prioritising jobs for tomorrow night so we may or may not have Radio Diamonds up and running.
30 volunteers is fantastic and I'm grateful to all of them for stepping forward, but you can see from the problems that have been highlighted it's simply not enough and that's even before people that inevitably will start to drift off because they realise that they're spending far more time working than actually watching football. We can't have enough volunteers, if we have more than enough then we can start doing rotas and people can actually spend some time watching games not just working them.

Oh and thanks for offering your help too and helping in the past. There's plenty of jobs that don't require you to miss any of the match so please drop me an email chas@afcdiamonds.com and let me know if there's any particular jobs you would like to do or not do and I'll find you something - and anyone else that would like to help out in some way.

Re: [ Sat 20th Oct ] v Burton Park Wanderers KO 3pm UCL1 HOME
I worked on Saturday morning and only got over to the ground at about 2.30pm (ish). I felt very guilty as I only did one or two little jobs and stood and watched a fair bit of the match, the first time I've done that at home this season, but I did feel VERY guilty for doing so .........I'll no doubt pay for it tomorrow night ;)
What chas has said about volunteers is right, we need enough to enable us to do a rota and "share the love"............I don't think chas has seen one home game this season and if all you're doing is grabbing the odd 2 minutes of the match here and there its tough to get into it. Remember guys n gals, we're all fans too.
We do know most of, if not all the problems we have on a matchday, I could probably add a few to the list already made on this thread - but we're only human, we have no magic wand to wave that will make it all better. It will improve, but only with your help.
As for the singing, its the age old chestnut isn't it, does the performance of the players lift the fans, or is it the performance of the fans that lifts the players.........I tend to go with the latter myself. I'll probably be too busy tomorrow (paying my pennace for Saturday ;) ) and I have man flu anyway, so won't be singing tomorrow, but an evening game under floodlights is just the time to really let rip and spur the players on. Tomorrow will be a tough game, we need all the fans to get behind the players and hopefully we'll see an improved performance and a positive result.
The one on the field wasn't great Saturday, this was recognised by our manager and many of the players themselves - but we as fans were poor as well; no rubbish excuses about "do-gooders" (how damn insulting is that to people working their fingers to the bone !!! ) ruining it for you. Hopefully we'll all lift our game tomorrow and come the final whistle won't have any excuses !!

Don't worry Matt, I already have you on my list for tomorrow, thanks. Not sure where yet as I'm still juggling jobs, but I'll sort something out with you when you arrive, cheers.

The last time I was around to do this was the Whitworths 'bathroom' incident - be happy if everything left can easily go into a bin bag this time!Mat.H wrote:Somebody find him a bin bag.Everyweeker wrote:I'll be happy to clear up the DeBanke at the end of the match Chas.

My dad and me along with two others, were cleaning the changing rooms, and noticed the away end showers were blocked, by mud I would think. Thought the four of us did a bloody good job!!!!

I cleared the showers out - mud and grass had collected in the trap, only took a few minutes, no end to my talents, I unblocked the toilets the other week too, the glamour of helping to run a football club
