I completely see your points there, its just very odd in my mind that you can have a Drivers and Team championship competition within the single sport.

Lets face it the popular media (ie for the masses) report predominantly on the drivers, not the teams, betting takes place on the drivers in the majority, not the teams, interest by the fans is for the drivers, not the teams - these are generalisations of course, many fans follow the teams etc.

I cannot understand why they do not just get rid of one championship - lets face it, in the world of advertising, media, public opinion etc it is the stars in their overpriced cars that are of interest to the majority.

It just needs to get a single focus either way. What its purpose and aims have been in the past are of course relevant, but what it is going forward should be utmost in the minds of the puppet masters.

Maybe in this country, but I get the impression that in Italy everyone follows Ferrari and they don't really mind which of the drivers prevails, as long as they are in the right car. Doing away with one championship is going to upset a huge number of people either way.

What needs to happen is for the team orders ruling to be clarified, and if it is to be enforced, punishments need to be clearly defined. The fact that Ferrari have been found guilty of issuing team orders yet are allowed to keep the points from the race in question, makes a complete mockery of the sport. Personally, I don't like team orders and I believe they should remain illegal, with point deductions dished out to drivers/teams who break the rule. However, in practice this just isn't going to work, and teams will always find a way to get around them, albeit in a far more subtle way than Ferrari do at present! In all honesty, it would probably make life much easier if they just allowed team orders.

Agree the Tifosi follow the team, certainly UK fans follow the drivers more - be interesting to see/find out how other countries view this split in support.

Agreed on the team orders - either enforce it and ensure consistent punishment or get rid of the rule altogether - at least then everyone knows where they stand.

That was one dumb position to get into on the first lap - showing his immaturity there unfortunately - that and today's results have made it a bloody interesting run in now though - any 1 from 5 can take it (if Ferrari were not running team orders I would make that a highly improbable but mathematically possible 1 from 6 including Massa!) with only 5 races left.

Squeaky bum time for some of them - it will be interesting to see how McLaren and Red Bull respond after Singapore if either of the respective drivers for each team fails to score or secures low points positions - you can virtually guarantee they will have to decide to back a single driver at that point. :twisted:

Looks like Lewis has developed a touch of the Vettel's of late ;) :lol:

Anyway, an interesting result all round - 4 to go, 5 still in it, Suzuka up next, that suits RBR and McLaren a bit more over the cheating red tifosi, I think this is destined for 4 of them shooting it out at the final race in Abu Dhabi

Same old same old. Unfortunately it's been in doubt for months. It would be nice to see them run a GP in its place perhaps at Paul Ricard or Magny-Cours in France (I think the Ricard circuit is due back on 2011 anyway, is it ready for F1? Magny-Cours should be able to host quickly, its only 2 years since it stopped hosting F1 there)

The Koreans have had long enough to sort it - perhaps Bernie needs to look at the above and sling some money at the French circuits now as a back up.
