I do some part time work in schools and I am amazed, nay shocked, at the spelling and grammar, even by A level students.

I don't claim to be an expert but my secondary modern education in the sixties does seem far superior to anything today.

Using so called text speak or twittering may be OK for a mobile phone when brevity is essential, but is not an acceptable form of communication when posting to the general audience.

That should put me in the Grumpy Old Men category!!
It is far too easy to blame the education system. I'm 23 and I would like to think that what I write is grammatically correct most of the time.

I think the key difference is that a lot less people read in their spare time and thus are not exposed to spelling and grammar. I know from a family member who works in a school that it can be a bit of a fight at times to get parents to read to their kids at night.

lets be honest here i couldnt give a rats arse about grammer and spelling this is a football forum about rdfc you dont need a english degree to post on here
sometimes when people have a slow connection or using mobile phones to browse this site it can take a min or 2 to load a page only to read some prat saying 'you have spelt that wrong' .....very annoying
who cares how you spell a word or what grammer was used we are talking about football
so lets leave the moaning out, about grammer and shit and lets talk about football.............
