What motivation would anyone from Rushden have to watch the club? Not in their town, not included in the name..
Ignore the name, Harry that would be the least of our worries. The fact remains that the people of Rushden/Higham and Irthlingborough havn't supported RDFC
in any sufficient numbers over the last 3-4 seasons. I would have loved to have known how many of those 400-500 that were in the Kimberley suite last evening actually came
from within the boundaries of those three towns. I know of many who were there from Bedford, Wellingborough, Corby, Market Harborough and surrounding villages.
If we are concerned with the Rushden angle then the fact of the matter is that the Club isn't based in Rushden and never has been.
With regard to K*ttering's recent approach to the Club to discuss a merger it shows just how desperate they are to survive themselves.
As someone from Rushden, it does very much matter to me that Rushden is in the name (incidently the club is known further afield as Rushden). K*ttering Diamonds (note the & is missing) smacks very much of K*ttering simply renaming themselves and nabbing the stadium.

I accept that MD. Here's a personal challenge to you. Try to get as many people who you know are interested in football but don't support RDFC and get them to come to Nene Park next season,
if we're still in business, to watch their local club. ;)

Changed my answer to 'No' because to be honest if the club was re-named 'K*ttering Diamonds' we would lose the Rushden part.
A better name would be Rushden & K*ttering United... But I really hope it doesn't come to that.

And then you would upset any one living in
Irthlingborough with a Diamonds connection, such as Two of Diamonds.
I think Ladick was flying his kite, with his recent merger suggestion, as I reckon he's getting very desperate as I should imagine his creditors are circling judging by that recent crass statement on their OWS that any creditor who is owed money to contact James Caan at DRC Locums direct to try to secure payment.
I would love to see a list of their creditors with amounts owing. Mind you, for a starters, a detailed accurate list of amounts outstanding for our creditors would be useful to all concerned.
I was appalled to find out last evening that the guy doing the Club's accounts, under the Beasants instructions, was an ex-carpet fitter/hanson cab driver who I guess performed a very good service in his own field of expertise but an accountant he ain't.

as a Rushden supporter of more than 40 years it pains me to say that the only way long term that we can remain in our current home and the conference is a merger .We have proved over the last 8 years that we cannot survive as we are ,in fact to get this far we have had to give up our only asset the ground and land Max left us ( I would say in my opinion the only person who has gained out of all this is KC, perhaps he feels guilty although I doubt it)
The world has changed we have to take our head out of the sand and change to survive as long as I have a club to follow I dont care if they are called Nene Rangers or anything else we are a result of a merger and grew fom that

Sorry Mac, but were you there last evening to hear KC speak? He was there in our hour of need when the Trust had a big financial problem and he personally put in around £450,000 a year when he was Chairman,
He sincerely wants us to stay in business and to suggest any other is wide of the mark.

As well as a proposed merger with Kett, what is the option with Corby Town for anyone - same position, nice new stadium, released most of the non contract players once safe, and seem to be in a bit of financial strife.
3 clubs in small area all with the same problem - not enough paying fans, generating not enough cash with overheads too high for any of them to ever maximise their opportunity without an investor with deep pockets.
Everyone will be precious about the name in any merger - so call it East Northants United or something.
Make sure the kit isn't white, red or Black /White striped,
Solution for everyone ???????????????

I think you kill both clubs this way which is the worst scenario.
You'd rather play in the UCL with the same name surely than watch a brand new club at this level.
AFC K*ttering Town & Rushden Town & Irthingborough Diamonds United has a ring to it...could even add Corby Town if their problems continue!

Get your point, but be interesting to hear what others think.
Havent seen a UCL Game recently that has attracted more than 100 people - ex players and staff.
You would lose a few supporters cumulatively no doubt, but would gain from disenchanted Claret supporters that would come across, and for everyone, NEW is not rivalry and competition.
Nene Park would still be the best venue for this Menage' a trios, but could have legs.

St Neots v King's Lynn attracted about 1,400 didn't it?
