No more ridiculous or pretentious than having a crest in the first place, to which we are not, strictly speaking, entitled.Rankine's Nose wrote:I don't.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:Red Dragon wrote:I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks we need a motto of some kind rather than "founded 2011" - "founded 2011" makes us look like a shop. I keep expecting to see "High Class Butchers", or "Matthews and Son" instead of AFC Rushden and Diamonds!
I voted for three, but in fact prefer none of them in particular (In fact, I quite like that one which came out early on, with a round Diamonds badge which looked as if it was being borne up on the wings of a phoenix) except to say that three with a Latin motto would be very good indeed.
Totally agree 8-)
I think putting Latin on the crest of a club founded in 2011 is ridiculous, not to mention pretentious.
So hae a motto in English, then - anything rather than "Founded 2011". Well, maybe not anything...
How about "To dare is to do"?
Or "Semper in excreta sed solum profundis variat" ("Always in the shit, it's just the depth which varies")?
Or how about something simple, yet elegant and expressive... "Always Loyal"?
