I'm sure Spencer Park would love to have a little, tidy stadium built there.
I think you need to be realistic and recognise that it's very unlikely that ENC/Rushden Town Council would allow a professional football club to build a stadium on a public park.
There is no way, at the present time, that our fledgeling club could buy or lease some land and find the funds to build their own ground.
You also have the time option, any new build won't be completed in time for the new season.
It's a sad state of affairs but Rushden does not have anywhere like the suitable facilities for the number of people that want to play and watch football in the town.
The great thing about the Thame stadium mentioned earlier is that it is a partnership between Thame United, Thame Boys Football Club and the council.
Thame has a population one third the size of Rushden.
As a Junior Football Club we struggle for somewhere to play our matches that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and had two or our teams playing at Raunds Manor School this weekend. Our friends at Rushden & Higham United are forced to use Spencer Park because they only have the one pitch at Hayden Road and no space to expand.
There really is the demand for something along the lines of Thame, with plenty of room to train, a 3g pitch and a club house that could be used for fund raising and a social base, but I don't think that it's anything that one organisation will be able to achieve alone, it has to be a community project.

St. Neots edged it in the first and went 1-0 up thanks to Steffan Moore.. second half was a different story St. Neots gave the ball away countless times, and Bedford ended up winning 3-1.
Bedford looked a very physical side... and there supporters were really giving some stick to Steffan Moore... for his reported £1,000 a month? wages.
I was there too, it was actually a really good game considering the level that they are playing at. Stefans goal was quality, Bedfords were down to teamwork.
As an aside I was wondering where ex R&DFC supporters were watching their football on Saturdays.
Quite a few have been venturing over to Corby and enjoying it.....if you attend you might even recognise some faces on the Turnstiles
It's great little ground with friendly faces, good food and so far good results and crowds

Been to most of Corby's home game, shift work has made me miss a couple :( .Went to Histon and to be honest they could have nicked it even though they went down to 10 men.
Will miss tonight game because I'm backshift :( .
Now stand opposite the mainstand near the tunnel, will move back into the main stand the rainy weather sets in,which will this Saturday no doubt :? .
Only a couple of miles drive and a short walk to Steel Park for me, so really is a no brainer. I've even persuaded a neighbour to join me. He reckons that he can watch three matches at Corby for what it costs to watch one match at Leicester City without taking into account the saving on petrol.
I'm loving it over there!! It really reminds me of Diamonds about 15 years ago with all of the enthusiasm and everyone is so nice.......for me I had to walk away from Diamonds when it finished as it was too upsetting. Some people will probably say that I should go to the AFC but I couldn't do it and I think everyone has a choice to decide.......so my new home is now Steel Park and it's nice to see a couple of extra Diamonds creeping over each week......maybe see you all tonight

What is stopping you from going to AFC??
Ive been to watch various different teams so far this season- Corby, St Neots, Posh and my local team Thrapston. As much as i have enjoyed going to the games i will never be able to get the same feeling about another club than i did/do about RDFC/ AFC. There is only one love for me.
