Was a poor game. You certainly got the impression that York were doing the bare minimum given what's laying ahead for them next week. Newport offered pretty much nothing as an attacking force, in fact I think they played the entire game with a central midfielder up front on his own.

Crowd was dire too, under 20,000, wonder if that's one of the worst attended Trophy finals in recent years? Kiddy V Stevenage in 2007 had 53,000 in attendance.

Edit: Just seen Barrow V Stevenage in 2010 was 17,500 :shock: .

A couple of Newport fans spotted my shirt and said hello. Very positive, thanked us for coming etc, said they'd look out for us in the future. One of them told me he hated Kettrin' :lol: .

Fair enough, perhaps it is the worst then?

The Kiddy - Stevenage final was the very first competitive game at new Wembley, which probably explains the attendance that day. I remember sitting on the top tier with the Kiddy fans.

I enjoy myself today - the standard wasn't much better than what we've been watching from our U18s this season if I'm honest. It did remind me though just how much I miss our club and reinforced my determination to make what we're working towards successful. It was great to see Justin and he made a real effort to seek us out for a chat; as did Ryan Charles at half time :)

Thanks to Dave for arranging it :D

I can't take all the credit for that (well I can, but I won't!); thanks to Glenis for sorting out the coach arrangements, and Chas for the online bookings. :D

I was also in the top tier with the Kiddy fans at the 2007 final!

Agreed about today's game. I was gutted for Justin, Max and Ryan - victory today would have been thoroughly deserved after all the events of the last 18 months. It was fantastic of them to make the effort to come and talk to us today.

Maybe there will be a little flag ;-)
Oh well, Flag was too big (although it had been there before), so had to be left at the turnstiles.

http://www.wembleystadium.com/events/groundregulations
"Flags more than 250cm in size at their widest or longest section will not be allowed and flagpoles greater than 1m in length will not allowed."

The stewards didn't even notice it was a large St George's Cross as well... I was hoping to be able to put it on the tier above the fans to be honest, but wasn't allowed.

It was great that Justin and Ryan were able to come over and chat yesterday. Shame about the result. Whilst Max was pitch side and waved he sent a message to Ellie this morning;

"Thankyou very much for your support. Say thanks to all the Rushden fans that came along, it was amazing."

The 2007 final was the first ever competitive final (and match I think) to be played at the new Wembley. Hence the swollen figures.
