Seat pricing is a problem - at the time of setting the price (based on the cost of the coach) you can only estimate the take-up.
We use to price on an average take up of 37/38 people, but we still lost money overall.
If you can do it, the best way is to get money from people up front otherwise you end up with no-shows on the day, which throws the calculations out and you end up losing money.
Good luck to anyone prepared to take this on, and be prepared for a lot of hassle.

Hi RM - thanks for the post. Yes we'd basically have to get the money well in advance and if insufficient numbers we'd have to refund people as don't want to get into the realms of losing money as I doubt there's any money available to subsidise transport. Or is there?
My plan would be to let people know we need the money on a given date (at a home match @ a certain time) in some sort of queue if you like. Then based on the numbers we have will determine whether we run it. Obviously we'd need to let people know well in advance via forums and perhaps notices at the clubshop. Anyone else got any thoughts on how else we could do this?
I don't suppose our card system is sophisticated enough to add travel for a particular match onto it is it? Could be one way of collecitng money easily without hassle of refunding in cash if not enough demand?

Chas is the man who will know.

Something would certainly be possible, I think some discussion would be needed on how it would alll work and how practical it would be to do it. Come and find me on Saturday or one of the other friendlies and we can have a chat. I know our chairman has mentioned AFC money as a future development, I think independence would have to wait until we had our own permanent home. Apparently the swipe cards can even be used for swiping in on matchdays, but that's just a rumour.

Will do and will bend your ear about my logon for members forum (the other website). What time will you be down there eating a pie?

I think the implication, at this stage, is that members should be able to discuss the potential logistical issues in a 'safe space', before any confirmed decisions are released in a wider forum.
I am sure Stamboy would happily discuss anything by PM on this board also?
Frankly, I'd be surprised if any non-members bothered to travel to Harrowby, at least without accompanying someone who is a member!

If I travelled to a game, I wouldn't be going with a member.
